Should I re-take REG and push back FAR?

So I got my REG score and failed as anticipated with a 65. I’m mostly new to the whole CPA thing and a little lazy to look up the rules, but would it be possible to sign up for REG right now so I can re-take it in January and push back my FAR exam which I am currently registered for (taking in February)? I really feel as if I’m going to forgot just about everything I learned and would much rather get REG over with

If this is possible, would you guys recommend doing it? Thanks

@ StevenK. – I think you have to wait like 48 hours after failing a section to register for it but YES you can. You can scheduel REG for January and push FAR back to another as long as it is not pass the deadline on your NTS for FAR. So if you NTS for FAR has an expiration of 03/01/12 then the latest you could take FAR is 02/29/2012. but overall in essence yes you can change your test dates.

Thank you! Just what I wanted to hear 🙂

edit: One more thing: I'm assuming the registration process is going to be the same to re-take, correct?

D'oh, looks like my 6 month period expires exactly on April 1st. Ouch. I'm guessing by the time I get my NTS again that day will be filled up

Looks like I'm probably going to have to take FAR at the end of February

@ StevenK – yes the process is still the same for a retake. I would call your state board to be for sure. If it expires on 04/01/2012-you may be able to take your exam on 04/01/2012 which will give you another month to study for FAR. My suggestion would be to call the State Board to be for sure.

I will, thanks. As of right now though I'm unable to register for a date more than 3 months from now. However, my NTS says that the latest I can take it is April 1st, so I assume I can

I will think about in the next few days. If I am able to take REG at the beginning of January I think I just might have enough time to study for FAR. Like most people I tend to slack off way too much when there isn't enough pressure, so another month might actually do more bad than good
