So long story short I have FAR scheduled in 11 days and I’m barely finishing F7 of Becker, didn’t watch most of the videos and haven’t touched a single SIM yet . I got caught up with work, SO coming into town, the holidays, losing focus, blah, blah, blah, I’m sure you’ve all heard it all before.

Basically I’m wondering if I should just push off FAR until after the New Year and give myself the month of December to study. The only problem is I don’t know how far the new changes will throw me off in terms of studying. I don’t know what to do….should I do everything I can to finish the material and take FAR on the 6th anyways and see what happens or should I just push it back and give myself a higher chance of passing? Do I even have any hope of passing FAR if I finish the material right barely right before the test and don’t give myself much time to review? Freaking out right now and I just need advice from someone that understands what I’m dealing with.

I have 2 different responses based on 2 different scenarios.

Scenario 1-money is not a problem for you- take the test. The worst thing that happens is that you will fail, burn over $200 and waste half a day. The upside is you get to experience with how the test looks, and have a chance at passing the test (even more valuable an upside since the test is changing), you'll have some fire under you to study these next 11 days and maybe even propel yourself to be better set up in January if you were to fail in December, the FAR pass rates have been up this year and you might as well roll the dice.

Scenario 2- money is tight-don't take the test. In my opinion, you're more likely to fail the test than pass according to what you wrote. Unless you regain focus, I don't see this changing and taking the test is a waste of $200.

Take FAR, especially if this is your first time sitting for FAR. As mentioned above, you will get the “feel” of the test. Although, not FAR, I changed my AUD date from Nov. 27th to Dec. 5th. I kept checking on the Prometric website for any other openings in Q4 (close off date is Dec. 10th), and if I had not been able to find another available seat in Q4 in Dec., then I would have sat for original AUD date of Nov. 27th. The reasoning behind it was that I would rather take a chance in Q4 and sit for it versus wait for the next Q1, 2019. If I pass, awesome, I can move onto BEC. If I fail, well, I am going to give myself at least a month before re-taking it.

    FAR: 76
    REG: Currently studying
    AUD:
    BEC:
