Should I be studying yet?

I’m getting pretty deep into FAR studying but am wondering if I should even be studying because my transcripts haven’t cleared and I haven’t been approved to get my NTS yet. I’m still in school for the summer and submitted my transcripts for provisional approval to take the test a while ago but it hasn’t come in yet. I’ve submitted the application for the NTS about a week and a half ago and haven’t gotten anything back. Do you all think it will be awhile before I can actually sit for the test? I don’t want to be studying for too long and forget what i learned in the beginning.

I don't remember how long it took to get my first NTS, but I do know that after, my other ones I applied for came within a 1-2 days. It may be longer if it's your first time applying. If you don't hear anything by mid-next week, then I'd call or email them.

In regards to studying, YES! Study! There's many people sitting for exams next week who will probably wish they would have had an extra 1-2 weeks to study. Take advantage of this time.

It can take a while, but I wouldn't be too concerned since its your first exam — a bigger worry would be if you'd passed 3 sections and you need the 4th before they start expiring.

I spent 6 months studying for FAR (starting well before I was approved to sit for the exams), but it took the California Board of Accountancy literally all summer to approve my application due to unforeseen office closures. No joke, for all of August 2012, all my phone calls were met with a voice recording that said Sacramento was in a heatwave and the airconditioner was broken so all employees have been sent home until further notice haha.

In any case, I'd say there's no harm in being prepared as long as there's no reason to deny your application. Especially if you're studying FAR. That test is no joke. Good luck!
