In general, I am in favor of doing more sims, analytical, and short-answer questions and fewer MCQs. If you know how to do the sims, even just 3/4 of each problem, then you will be able to get the large majority of the MCQs on the test right. But knowing how to do all the MCQs won't necessarily help you on a sim.

After doing enough MCQs to establish your weak and strong areas, I advise going back to the textbook and doing the end-of-chapter problems for any area you're weak on. If you can get those right, you will see more improvement than you would get from doing any number of MCQs.

Plus, on everything but BEC each sim is a substantial portion of the test, so between the easier MCQs and the sims it should be possible to pass while getting the harder MCQs mostly wrong.

    FAR 92 1/3/12
    AUD 93 2/2/12
    BEC 89 2/28/12
    REG 86 7/16/12

    Waiting on REG

Hey, guys, for what it's worth – I did plenty of SIMs practice & felt about the same coming out of it as forever4. Granted I don't have my score yet but definitely worried.

Those SIMs were just out of left field. Even if I'd studied another 75 hours I wouldn't have done better. Unfortunately, may be one of those luck of the draw situations.

For what it's worth my prep materials (CPA Excel, Wiley book) were useless for the SIMs portion of the test I got (think there are few versions of that test). Hypothesizing from reading on here that Wiley online test bank or Becker may have been (slightly) better SIMs prep for that version…

    B - 8/30/12, 91
    A - 5/25/12, 87
    R - 7/28/12, 82
    F - 4/18/12, 84

    To be honest,

I did not find my sims hard except one. It was my fault that I went back and changed the answer. There is one like a piece of cake but I didn't memorize the rules that I took a really detailed note on my studying materials. It was all my fault so I'm not gonna complain anymore.

But I think everyone who does really well on MCQ would proabably get 74 if they are weaker in sims

Hi forever I know this thread is from 2 years ago but I'm in the exact same boat as you right now…74 on reg🙁 So did you do the score review? Did your grade change? It looks like you passed reg in the next window so I'm guessing either you didn't do the score review or you did but no change in grades?

THISGIRL, sorry to hear about your 74. Don't ask for the rescore you basically have the same odds of getting struck by lightening at the exact moment you cash in your $400million winning lottery ticket unfortunately. You've got great scores in aud and BEC so you're very capable, hang in there!

Sorry to hear about the 74. I've been there. What an awful feeling.

I pulled it off on my next attempt, and if I can do it………best of luck!

Thanks for the reply guys. I really appreciate your inputs. I just started studying again so hopefully I pull (at least) a 75 the next time around. 74 is such a cruel score🙁

    I got a 74 as well.

Bite the bullet and study for the next month and take it again.

    Good luck!
