Well I guess I’m at least showing signs of improvement… and it could have been a 74 which would feel much worse.

    1st try: Becker (70)

2nd try: Yaeger lectures + Wiley books and testbank + NINJA notes (61… I blame this on me taking almost 2 years off and not remembering how much effort I truly need to put in)

3rd try: same as 2nd try with NINJA audio added in (73)

Advice from people who have been in my situation? I have yet to pass a single section! 🙁 Where do you suggest I start for restudying AUD again.. and how many weeks? Its still very fresh since I took the test 3 weeks ago but wondering if I should start from scratch with lectures and all … or??

I failed AUD too and I'm starting from scratch. Certain things that I didnt understand before are now starting to click. Also, I used Becker live classes the first time and that was not helpful at all. I felt that the instructors went too fast and wanted to end class early. Now I am watching all the video lectures and taking tons of notes. Dont give up!

It took me five tries to pass audit. For me the key was to read the entire answer explanation to see why the right answer is right and why the wrong answer is wrong. There is a lot of good info in those explanations that can help things click. Also knowing and understanding the audit risk formula is very important. Also, read the different reports and know them. Know the differences between audits, reviews and compilations. Know the different types of opinions and what situations will warrant a particular opinion. Becker has a good chart with that info in their auditing book.

Once all these things fell into place for me I went from a 72 to an 89. I used Becker, Yaeger lectures, wiley book and test bank and ninja notes and audio.

I also failed audit my first try which really threw me because I already had NTS for BEC and REG so the clock was ticking. Ultimately, I decided to push back BEC and REG in order to retake AUD while it was still fresh. I can't express how glad I am that I made that decision. It caused a bit of a time crunch to prep for BEC (3 weeks study time) but it paid off.

In short, if you fail a section I highly recommend retaking it before any other section as you can build on the studying you've already done.

Also, I would start over now. I would try to work as many mcq's as you possibly can and work sims. For me I think that may have been the thing that caused my 70 and 72. A lot of people will say not to bother working the sims but if you have a good working knowledge of how they will be presented and the types of things they can ask you then it can only help. Also, be sure to use the authoritative literature to help you research info to help in working the sims and not just the research questions if you are not already doing this. I think I usually took about 6 weeks study per session for Audit. in the week before the exam I would take 30 question testlets on wiley test bank until I was scoring pretty high. Also you can try working 20 question testlets from individual sections until you are scoring at least 80% in each section (advice from Jeff). This is a good way to pinpoint your weak areas.

bnrhilton- great advice, thanks. Do you recommend I also rewatch the lectures? This will be the 3rd time watching them… I'll do what needs to be done but also don't want to be doing something that is a waste if MCQs and repetition would be more beneficial.

I haven't looked at my detail report to see where I didn't do so well, but I felt I had audit risk formula down and I would always read the wrong answer explanations. I'm just wondering if I didn't do so swell on the sims. If anything, thats where my guess would be that I did bad.

Actually, just checked and it tells me I'm “Weaker” in both MCQ and Sims (weird.. you would think with a 73 at least one of them would be “Comparable”).

The two areas where I performed weakest were Accounting and Review Services and Understanding the Engagement.

I would not watch the lectures again. your time is better spent working mcqs. something else I picked up was when I look at the answers see which one s not like the others. one of the yaeger instructors suggested to look at it that way.

Thats what I was thinking. Obviously I don't have the material down if I haven't scored a 75, but at the same time I wasn't sure what more I could learn from watching the lectures again.

i took audit four times before passing, so here's my advice: don't watch the lectures, do multiple choice questions but read the explanations for each answer. Even if you got it right, understand why you got it right and why the other choices were wrong (or not the best answer choice given). Read each question twice and look for words like all/never/invalid/not/except to help rule out wrong answers. If the answers are numbers, read the last sentence of the question first. When I finally slowed down and took my time reading the question, I passed. And, know your journal entries – very helpful in sims (i don't think i'm violating any rules by saying that).

    B - Passed
    A - Passed
    R - Passed
    F - Passed
