Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever had to wait to receive their first NTS, and what’s the earliest anyone has scheduled their exam after receiving their NTS? I have been studying for FAR for the last two months and I definitely think I’m ready to sit for it, but I still haven’t received my NTS. It is in processing and should be sent to me within 3 days, but I wanted to know what they earliest someone has scheduled their exam after receiving their NTS. The AICPA says it must be 5 days prior to the date of the exam, so just wondering is that is a fact or if anyone has received their NTS then taken their exam two or three days after receiving it. Thanks in advance. I’ll definitely be taking it in this window, but the more days I can get as a breather the better.

You can schedule as soon as you receive your NTS, and you can schedule it for the next day if there's a slot available.

Schedule your exam as soon as possible after receiving your NTS… if you don't and you have an ideal test date in mind, just remember that slots fill up fast!

This happened to me. I received my NTS Jan 6th, kept telling myself I was going to schedule it for either mid or late Feb. Well, end of Jan came around… turns out I needed all the time in Feb I could get so I was aiming for Feb 28th. Well, guess what? ALL SLOTS were taken within a 60 mile radius of me and the “latest” I could take it was the 23rd. Thats 5 precious days that I no longer had to study!!!

Anyway, yes, just schedule asap. 🙂

I once had a situation, anyway, I called prometric and asked to talk to candidate care team. They found me a spot that was not listed on thier website, otherwise the window was closing the day after my exam. Try that, explain you just got it and need help locating a spot.

It can't hurt you to schedule immediately (even if you think the date might change), especially if your selected test date is 30+ days away- as long as you reschedule more than one month in advance, you won't get hit with any additional fees. I rescheduled 3 times (just minor changes, like a Saturday to a Monday, etc) and never paid additional fees. Get something scheduled you know you can live with, and then if you decide to move it earlier, you can do so!

Thanks all. Just as an update, I received my NTS this morning and found an open slot this Saturday the 23rd at 10 am. Super nervous, but I'm just going to review whatever I think I need over this next day and a half and try to shake off the butterflies.
