I have FAR left- passed the other three with about 3-4 weeks studying each. at this point i know how to study efficiently, but im hearing FAR is different.

Ive been MIA on the forums because of an especially brutal tax season about 80/hrs a week of work. that ended today.

    i got two options:

    1) should i schedule FAR for end of May? (note: I will be out of the country mid-may for about a week so will lose 7 days of studying) and start studying now. NOT looking forward to immediately going from busy season grueling schedule to balancing full-time work (albeit 40/hr weeks) coupled with another 4hr/s studying every day.

    2) just take it easy until my trip may 10th-17th and then just buckle down for a month in a half and take the test early July.

ughhh, This decision would be a lot easier if June wasn’t a blackout month- I would just schedule the darn thing for mid June 🙁

    thoughts?

June 8 gives you 6 weeks. I say go with it. And yes it is feasible in 4 if you are strict with yourself.

Eesti, schedule it and risk the reschedule fee but go for it. the stuff you think you forgot will come back and some standards have changed. There is more IFRS than there used to be but you are out of tax season and can hit it hard till you go on vacay. It is more than 4 weeks even with the vacation. Buy ninja notes and take them with you to read in airport or on plane. Mcq's work on a tablet and large screen phones. You may not miss a whole week – just do bonds that whole week or pensions or govt. Take one topic on vacation with you if you have to. You should at least try and risk passing rather than waiting and risk failing and a 4th quarter retake.

I would also recommend taking it in June. Getting a new NTS usually doesn't take too long. For me FAR and REG took about the same amount of study time, FAR scoring a little bit lower due to losing a week in between because of something out of my control. Not a tax person though.

    BEC - 10/05/15 - 83
    FAR - 11/09/15 - 79
    AUD - 11/30/15 - 84
    REG - 02/14/16 - 82

June 8 is just shy of 7 weeks away, so with the week out of town, that's 6 weeks of studying. Probably will be enough. However, if you've just got 1 seat open June 8, you'd better grab it quick before it's gone!

Unless things have changed since I was testing and I haven't heard about it, there's no rescheduling fees till 30 days out, right? So, you could claim the June 8th date right now, start studying, and have 2 1/2 weeks till you've actually made any financial commitment to that date. In 2 1/2 weeks (May 8th), if you've not made good progress with the FAR prep, you could re-assess, but I think you'll be in good shape and confident to continue.

Just think…in 7 weeks, you could be done with the CPA exams, if you grab that June 8th date. 🙂
