I take FAR on Friday and needless to say I am terrified. I took REG nearly 2 months ago and in final review averaged an 81% on WTB problems (I did every problem and didn’t repeat any) and felt comfortable going into the test. However, with FAR on the horizon and having averaged a 69% on 900 unique (i.e. no repeats) MCQ in FAR WTB, I am constantly questioning my preparedness for test day. I am frustrated doing MCQ sets because so often there are random, overly specific rules that throw me off and half the time I can’t even find the answer in my Becker text – especially those related to IFRS.
I spent July 10 – August 11 completing all of Becker Self-Study except for SIMS, which I plan to go through this week. After that I had a family reunion to attend and didn’t get much studying in (only ~40 MCQ per day), and since returning for the past week I have averaged about 100 MCQ per day. I spend about 3 minutes per MCQ because I write down the rule behind the answer for any question whose rule I don’t feel 100% confident about, so it is difficult to get a whole lot more than that done in a day without my mind going numb. Until test day I will be rereading Becker text and taking notes, and doing 30-50 MCQ per day so I don’t get rusty on them. By test day I will have done roughly 4,000 MCQ (500 more than I did for REG).
To those who have passed FAR, how did you feel going into the test? What did you do during final review to tie everything together, and how did you manage to handle all of the minutiae?
Thank you!
