Has anyone else had issues with Roger’s Interactive Practice Questions? While I find the format to be reasonable, for the most part, what bugs me is that there is no option to reset one’s progress. I’m getting ready for my final review for FAR and specifically requested that the staff reset my IPQ progress, but was told they don’t have the ability to do so. I don’t understand how they “don’t have the ability to do so.”

Here’s the issue: Roger’s test bank allows for a maximum of 50 questions per quiz session. One can also specify to either see only questions that haven’t been answered before, or to see only questions that were answered incorrectly. The problem is that when one section/topic has more than 50 questions, there is really no way to track which questions have been answered “x” number of times. So, if all questions for a section have already been answered (and the section has more than 50 questions), there is no way to guarantee that you’re seeing the questions an equal number of times, since I assume that they are randomly generated. The only way to clear your progress is to delete each quiz individually. However, when you have more than 100 quiz sections, this is unreasonable.

To me, this is a serious flaw in the software. I even suggested to them that each section have an option to erase all progress from it. Has anyone else seen this to be an issue? They did finally fix the issue with the calculator (the problem with the delayed dragging response), but this issue makes final review particularly hard if one wants to go through all of the question again. I do have the NINJA MCQ, but I use it as more of a supplement to RogerCPA.

Yeah Roger IPQs have gone to garbage. When I started using it in the first 3 quarters of 2015 it was good stuff. You could breakdown by section do question by question for each section. I told them numerous times to go back to the old way. B/c the new interface only allows 50 questions and random for the section. So a section could have 400 questions, but w/ 50 random questions there are repeats. So basically I would go to the home page of the section click on the “correct green check questions” and go through each question one by one that is already answered. Yeah it was pretty bad. For my last section of Aud, I was basically forced to buy a new program b/c rogers was just ineffective. I ended up using ninja AUD mcq for my last part. Def a way better system and it lets you break it down section by section like how the old roger ipqs used to let you do. And their sim interface is like 10x better than rogers sims.

I contacted roger admins multiple times and they said we'll take that into consideration. Or were still upgrading our systems. After 2 or 3 mos still no progress.

A lot of review courses do not have the option to reset your progress mostly because they try to keep students from reselling. Roger's questions are not the greatest and considering that this is a new feature it's still going through growing pains. Since Cpaexcel purchased Wiley Roger and Yaeger stopped using the Wiley questions. Not sure if Wiley discontinued that service since they are now a full review course with CPAexcel. I have Roger and supplement with Ninja McQs because I like the option to reset, being able to pick the number of questions I do at a time, the price point and the adaptive learning.

I would check out the Ninja MCQs. For $47 its worth every penny.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

I just started my final review and deleted all of my previous quizzes. I would say it took me may be 5 mins to delete 80+ quizzes so it is not that bad.

I agree with the analytical capabilities, the IPQ interface surely needs more work. Simulations don't work in my home computer (cleared cache, etc.) but works at my office PC. Go figure…

Honestly, I don't think the RogerCPA IPQ software is that bad–at least in terms of the amount of questions. In terms of diagnostics and analytical capabilities, it obviously needs some work. I've seen some people complain about repeat questions in the test bank, but I haven't found this to be that much of an issue. I've noticed some, but it's not a huge amount. The sims are pretty bad, though. A good percentage of them are merely research questions. I do have the NINJA FAR test bank, so I tend to use it after I've been through the relevant questions from Roger's test bank. And, yes, they do tend to be harder.

RogerCPA Review did it's major update just after I purchased the course, back in mid-October, so I don't know how the software was before that, though I know he used the Wiley test bank. I like Roger's teaching style a lot, so I can't complain too much, but I hope student feedback is used to everyone's advantage in regards to the new software. I did complain about the on-screen calculator problem and it was fixed, albeit several weeks later.

For the sake of people looking for a review course and reading this post, yes, could not agree more. Roger's teaching style, mnemonics and energy are amazing and I am very happy with the entire course. He surely does not let you fall asleep during the lectures and simplifies the concepts extraordinarily well. Those are probably the most important qualities needed from a review course more than anything else. His test bank is okay and could be better but in the grand scheme of things, that is not a big deal for me, either.
