I see a lot posts about people rewriting notes. I take FAR in a couple of weeks and wanted to get input. Has that made a difference? I was thinking about copying key points from my book. Or is it a waste of time?

I rewrite my notes for everything, but if you don't have time, I say skim through sections you're comfortable in and only write down key points, usually points that can change a situation (Generally, do this, UNLESS blah blah blah. Or REMEMBER X is an exception). Preferably, I would also just draw some kind of summary diagram without the details for parts you're comfortable (e.g. ways of accounting for investments).

For stuff that seems foreign to you, I say write detailed notes. Then go back to it later closer to the exam date and summarize more.

Worked for me – I tend to learn more when actively writing and engaging in the material rather than just passively reading it. Everyone is different, but if your learning style is similar to mine, I'd give it a shot if you can fit it in. If you can't, I'd recommend just doing MCQs over and over for the next couple of weeks.

I'm in the process of copying the NINJA Notes for FAR right now. My exam is 11/23 and I currently on F7 in Becker. The first section of NINJA Notes is IFRS and after re-writing them I definitely have a better understanding on the major differences between GAAP and IFRS. It really helped centralize all of the info from the first six chapters of Becker. I will be doing this for the remainder of the notes as I finish up with Becker.
