Retake FAR or move on – need advice

I retook FAR for the SECOND time, and just received my score back. I did not pass. I got a 71 the first time, and now a 73. I already started studying for audit, but have only been studying for a week.

Should I retake FAR for the THIRD time and put audit aside. Or take audit as planned, then retake FAR. However I will most likely not be able to get to FAR again for another 4-5 months due to work.

I have passed REG and BEC. Don’t lose credit until next May.

    please advise!

Retake FAR. You're so close score wise you just need to focus to push yourself over the threshold. Since audit is supposed to be easier, save that for last and focus in on FAR!

    FAR 4/9/12- PASSED
    BEC 7/13/12- PASSED
    AUD 8/16/12- Ughhh 71, Rematch: 90!!!
    REG-12/6/12 PASSED

Move on. I took far during the summer 2011 and failed with a 73. Then retook it almost immediately after my fail and got a 66. I then passed audit reg before stopping for busy season. After busy season I passed BEC and now I am circling back to far after not having studied for far for about six months.

The problem with taking it right after a fail is you are pissed off and you think you know the material so you end up not fully studying like you should. This is what happened to me when I got the 66. I was like “psht I know all this I don't need to spend time studying this when I know it.” Then I failed again.

After a long break you feel refreshed and are ready to attack the material much harder than you would after just recently studying it. I'm sorry but the above poster said you are really close to passing but you aren't. You should be studying to get an 85 and if you come up short you get a 75. You dont want to study for a 75 and then fall short.

My personal opinion is to take a break and attack is later. You will feel rejuvenated and will be able to put the fails behind you and really focus.

I would move on also. You might need a break from that section. I failed REG and I'm really tired of that section so I'm going to move on to FAR.

    REG - 5/29/12 (64), 10/1/12 (74), 5/20/13 (75, expires 12/31/14)
    FAR - 8/14/12 (64), 8/5/14 (75)
    BEC - 11/19/12 (70), 2/25/13 (72), 11/21/13 (73), 1/21/14 (73), 8/30/14 (72), 11/24/14 (75)
    AUD - 4/22/13 (65), 10/12/13 (79)

    I'm done!!!

I would retake FAR. You're so close at this point, chances are you probably only have a few weak areas you really need to focus on. I'd make sure you achieved mastery of those areas and then go for it again while it is still fresh. You don't want to forget all of your FAR knowledge.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

I dont know if the people on here have ever failed a section, but when you fail its not like you can go look over your weak sections and then take it again and pass. Maybe you got a test that favored some sections and the next time youll get a test that focuses on other sections.

As for being close. You failed and now it will another one to two months before you last took far again. I can barely remember material from a week or two ago let alone a month ago. When you fail you need to restudy, and not just your weak sections. You need to completely restudy.

I haven't needed to retake but I have a few friends who did (and subsequently passed). They all said that rescheduling immediately was a good move because they didn't feel like they were starting completely from scratch.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

You should retake FAR no question.

Keep studying FAR to build upon what you already know. You don't want to have to relearn everything from scratch in a few months. That would be a giant waste of your time. You're only a week into AUD, so it is ok to pull the plug, no big loss.

    FAR: 92
    AUD: 99
    BEC: 90
    REG: 95

I would retake FAR to take advantage of the timing. I took AUD on May 31st, and if I failed, I was going to re-schedule to take it again on the first available date. The whole week before the score came, I just did progress MCQ's on Becker for AUD to keep things fresh. Score came, I passed, moved on to REG next day.

My strategy was that if I failed AUD the second time, I figured it would have been good for me to focus on other subjects and then re-do AUD with a clean slate.

I guess this also answers my Auditing and Regulations question?

Definitely. Let me just say this. All my friends who have retaken a section immediately after failing it a first time have passed the second time. All of my friends who try and retake in cycles like that are on their third or forth attempts on those sections.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED
