Hello. I am resuming my CPA studies as of tonight. I started studying for FAR about 2 months ago and I am not sure what happened, but night after night for one reason or another I was unable to study. So, now it’s 2014 and I HAVE to study and complete these exams as my job and my bonus depends on it. I work full-time with 3 very young children (4, 2 & 1), so I am super busy and exhausted. I need some advice on how to tackle this thing. Should I pick up where I left off? Should I start from the beginning again? I will definitely have to review those sections that I already watch the lectures, but not sure if I should review it when I complete all my other lectures. I am using Yaeger and WTB. Any suggestions and words of motivation are welcome. Thank you so much!

Wow… I applaud you. I could never focus with so much going on around me.

I would recommend starting over on the material. It's incredible how quick you forget the little, but important details.

    AUD - Done
    BEC - Done
    FAR - Done
    REG - Oct.

I'm in the same boat – except 1 kid, not 3 (yay for you!!). I failed BEC the first time due to lack of motivation due to my son and feeling guilty…the 2nd round I started from scratch and passed. This 1st time with FAR…same thing happened (although the holidays got the best of me for the most part) and I forgot everything I learned for the most part. I plan to restudy from scratch starting this weekend.

From everyone I've spoken to, the best route is to act like you've never seen the material before. When are you planning on taking it? I'm scheduling mine for the 1st weekend in April. Good luck!!!

Focusing is not easy and I forget things, so I have to find a way for this to work.

I plan to take FAR in April as my NTS expires then. So that will give me 3 months to prepare. I agree with you all that starting over will probably be the best thing to do. I planned to start tonight, but as I sit here and listen to my baby scream for me from the other room, my hopes for the night are fading fast. Ugh, this is going to be sooo difficult.

Oilgas, you have a section down over me, but we should hold each other accountable and get this done.

It looks like a few of us are on the same schedule. I'm planning to take FAR in early-April. I will be using Gleim. I haven't quite nailed down my study plan/schedule yet, but I need to come up with something … and fast!

Let's do this Jen! I plan on starting no later than Friday – maybe even tonight depending on when I get home from work (busy season for me just started and will last through Feb).

m1kal – Good luck to you! You will have to let us know how it goes. I would like to take FAR before the black out period, but I don't feel like I would be able to study enough before then.

oilgas, jhawkins – We can do this. I was able to study on Monday, but last night I was sick and my baby was sick, so I was unable to swing it. We are both feeling better, so it is on tonight. jhawkins, I see you are using Gleim. Oilgas, what review materials are you using?
