Hi guys,
I took REG today, and I just got home. Here I am back on the forum already looking for some sympathy! Aye Aye!
Well, the multiple choice testlets went well, I thought. I spent about 30 minutes on each testlet, which left me an hour and a half for the sims. While the written parts were alright, I really struggled with some of the other content on the sim tabs. I completed the first sim, but I’m not sure about how well I did on a couple of the tabs. I’m also not sure about the research question. On the second sim, I only had 30-something minutes left, and I ended up running tight on time. I was unable to complete about a tab and a half because I ran out of time, as well as the research tab, and the other tabs that I did finish were quite challenging too. Ughh . . .
I used Becker to prepare, and I felt like I knew all of the study material very well. For the questions and sims, etc., that I’m unsure about, more Becker study time wouldn’t have really helped all that much anyway for me. It’s so hit-and-miss with the topics and level of detail the exam will require. So far with the sims for all three sections of the exam I’ve taken, the content has been really challenging and/or detailed. In some ways, I don’t think it’s possible to fully prepare for the sims.
I am a good test taker, and I am very efficient with the written communication areas. But, boy, I could have used some additional time on the sims. It takes a while just to read through all of the requirements, and it’s overwhelming to see so many work tabs with time ticking down. I’m sure I could have gotten a few more right answers on the sims had I not run out of time.
I’m hoping that I did well enough to pass, but knowing I missed filling out some of the sim tabs really bothers me. I studied SO hard.
On the positive side, I felt a lot like this with the FAR section too. I also ran low on time and didn’t complete everything on the sims. I ended up with a good score.
I think it’s the nature of these exams to be very challenging, and generally people don’t walk out feeling like they aced them. So, I’m trying to put things in perspective. In many cases, people achieve better scores than they expected.
I need to shift gears mentally now and move on to my final section – BEC. If I can’t compartmentalize and let this be, I’ll have way too much time to dwell waiting for my REG score in Wisconsin, right?!!!
Thanks to everyone who wished me well. You are the folks who really understand the study stamina required for these exams. Good luck to those testing in this window!
