    Hi guys,

I took REG today, and I just got home. Here I am back on the forum already looking for some sympathy! Aye Aye!

Well, the multiple choice testlets went well, I thought. I spent about 30 minutes on each testlet, which left me an hour and a half for the sims. While the written parts were alright, I really struggled with some of the other content on the sim tabs. I completed the first sim, but I’m not sure about how well I did on a couple of the tabs. I’m also not sure about the research question. On the second sim, I only had 30-something minutes left, and I ended up running tight on time. I was unable to complete about a tab and a half because I ran out of time, as well as the research tab, and the other tabs that I did finish were quite challenging too. Ughh . . .

I used Becker to prepare, and I felt like I knew all of the study material very well. For the questions and sims, etc., that I’m unsure about, more Becker study time wouldn’t have really helped all that much anyway for me. It’s so hit-and-miss with the topics and level of detail the exam will require. So far with the sims for all three sections of the exam I’ve taken, the content has been really challenging and/or detailed. In some ways, I don’t think it’s possible to fully prepare for the sims.

I am a good test taker, and I am very efficient with the written communication areas. But, boy, I could have used some additional time on the sims. It takes a while just to read through all of the requirements, and it’s overwhelming to see so many work tabs with time ticking down. I’m sure I could have gotten a few more right answers on the sims had I not run out of time.

I’m hoping that I did well enough to pass, but knowing I missed filling out some of the sim tabs really bothers me. I studied SO hard.

On the positive side, I felt a lot like this with the FAR section too. I also ran low on time and didn’t complete everything on the sims. I ended up with a good score.

I think it’s the nature of these exams to be very challenging, and generally people don’t walk out feeling like they aced them. So, I’m trying to put things in perspective. In many cases, people achieve better scores than they expected.

I need to shift gears mentally now and move on to my final section – BEC. If I can’t compartmentalize and let this be, I’ll have way too much time to dwell waiting for my REG score in Wisconsin, right?!!!

Thanks to everyone who wished me well. You are the folks who really understand the study stamina required for these exams. Good luck to those testing in this window!

I just came back home as well and I feel defeated.

This was by far the hardest one for me. Only the first testlet was easy, the rest was tough, including the sims.

And I usually struggle with written communications (weaker in AUD and comparable in FAR) so I hope I grabbed enough points on the MCQs.

And the hardest part will be the wait for the score…..

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

i just took FAR today and although im sorry you werent able to fully complete the REG sims, I am somewhat happy to hear you did well on FAR without completing all the tabs. I completed the tabs in FAR but HAD NO CLUE on about 4-5 tabs (i did the written comm tabs and felt good about those, and got at least 1 of the research ones right). so you're telling me theres a chance I still passed FAR b/c of what happened with you? I hope so!

    FAR (10/15/10) = 94
    AUD (11/24/10) = 89
    BEC (5/20/11) = 87
    REG (8/23/11) = 78

italianCPA – I'm sorry to hear you had a similar experience with REG. I thought the sims were more difficult than the FAR sims. And there is so much less time overall for the exam, with just 6 less m/c questions per testlet. I would think that a lot of people probably struggled with this exam. So, I don't think we should lose hope yet. Like I said, I knew the Becker material very well, so I would think that I'll at least pass, but maybe with not a great score. Sounds like your exam was a lot like mine, and I see you did fantastic on FAR. Obviously you are a great test taker. Let's keep the faith. What study material did you use for REG? I see this is your last section – good for you! I still have BEC to go, and I'm using Becker for that too. I'm looking forward to no sims on that one!

PleasePass – I did guess on some of the FAR tabs, and I don't think I finished all of the sims. But, I finished even less on the REG exam sims. I think the thing to remember is that there are a lot of tabs on the sims, and the two sims combined total only 20 points, so that means each individual tab is likely worth only a few points. The graded written communication is worth 10 points, and I typically do well with those. This is not like a normal exam, and it seems people generally do better than they expect for scores.

    FAR - 94 (7/10)
    AUD - 99 (8/20)
    REG - 99 (10/15)
    BEC - 88 (11/20)

i take REG on Monday, i'm getting anxious. this entire weekend is devoted to studying….which sucks because the badgers play ohio state tonight. what the hell am i going to do then?!? what is more important? watching the badger beat the number 1 team in the nation, or make sure i am thoroughly prepared for REG? i think the for the short term it would be the badgers, but come score release time i think the extra studying would be more important. it's going to be a wild day…

Jan_in_wi sounds to me like you passed again with 90s.

To tell you my experience I thought I did very well on MCQs similar to your experience – did both WCs and left three tabs entirely blank on the second sim. I was also very concerned stressing out. Ultimately it came out ok.

Be honest with yourself. If you've done very well on a couple prior exams and you put in the work and the same dedication you're probably totally fine…

    Don't worry so much.

Thanks guys! I am a total worry wart, and missing those tabs was really disheartening after all the study time involved. The reassurance helps. I'm in awe of both of your REG scores (FARSUXCPA and potatogun). Great job!

I hear you Jan in Wi. I had the same sentiments. I was sure I passed and thought it was all so easy until I got to the sims which were totally out of left field. Then I thought I was sure I failed and the thought of re-preparing filled my mind especially when I had 17 minutes going into sim 2. I told everyone I failed until I got the results.

I really won't be surprised if you get mid to high 90s. Apparently REG is curved big time so you shouldn't worry so you can focus on BEC. Have confidence and think you passed REG so you can concentrate on BEC. I used this strategy preparing for FAR my last exam before getting the results for AUD =)

I swore I failed REG coming out of the test and ended up with a 97. I felt much like you did. I felt I knew the material well and then the SIMs just hammered me.

Start working on BEC and try to focus.
