    Hi all,

Can someone please, please clarify for me which year’s laws apply for the October/November 2010 window of the REG exam?

I’m using Becker 2010 review materials, and I’ve found so many instances where things have been changed since 2009 and/or laws are in legislation currently.

For example, according to Becker’s updates, the rules for inherited property have changed so that the basis in the property is now the lesser of the deceased’s adjusted basis or the FMV on the date of death. This is different than the prior rules related to the alternative valuation date, etc.

So which laws apply to the October/November 2010 testing window – 2009 or 2010? I’m assuming 2010. Or do I really need to know both sets of laws just in case? The above is just one example, and there are many others where legislation is in progress. For example, a particular item may have been repealed but in legislation for the future. Will that be tested then?

    Thanks for any help,

    Jan
