Hey guys, feeling pretty depressed right now while studying for FAR. I feel like I felt this way for BEC and REG, but each time it feels new and really discouraging. I just finished B6 with Becker for FAR, and I am so frustrated that I come to tears. I am scoring 55 – 65% on the homework. Most of the stuff I can understand, but when I get to the questions, it’s hard to remember all the rules and what not. I am worried that I won’t be ready in time for my November 12th exam which is two days before my NTS expires. This section is very overwhelming in the amount of information, and I feel like I am questioning my ability to be able to pass and/or even become a CPA. Maybe I am not thick skinned enough, or I take things too seriously, I don’t know. I guess this is just me venting to people that are going through the same thing as me. Hope it gets better…

    BEC - PASS
    FAR - PASS
    Audit - PASS
    REG - PASS

@acamp – That approach may have worked out for you. It just didn't work out for me. Everyone's learning style is different. It's also hard to quantify life when it happens i.e. life's events can cause a serious setbacks in studying. My suggestion remains: study just as you would if you had a test date already scheduled but only pay the $234 for an NTS when you know it's going to be worthwhile.

@cpaorbust – The best, most knowledgeable, well rounded and (most importantly) most personable CPA's I've ever met and/or worked with; bombed it at least one time.

Exactly, so suggesting to the OP the she is “making a mistake for getting a Notice to Schedule prior to actually being “prepared” to sit” is just as presumptuous as me telling you that it worked out just fine for me.

    Wolf Chicken,

You can do it! I feel the same way you do and my test is monday. I suggest you read the thread about Practice Scores vs Exam Scores. You will see that there were some people who did not do so good on the practice tests but passed the exam. I have found that to be reassuring.

My suggestion is you take a deep breath, tell yourself its going to be ok, then starting believing it is ok, and continue your studying. I believe this exam is more a test of your resolve and grit more so than knowlege. The 1000 page study gude is meant to intimidate you, but dont let. YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES to pass, you just have to get yourself ready to perform.

Good luck on your test. You can do it!

Well, when we know better we do better. Don't pay for an NTS unless you are ready to get down to the nitty gritty and study, study, study. Study is the only way to pass. Don't waste money.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

@OP I 100% understand how you are feeling and everyone here at some point has been in your spot!!! When you feel yourself hitting the wall don't be afraid to take a 30 minute break to rebalance yourself. FAR can be extremely overwhelming, don't be hard on yourself. When I look at the massive quantity of info in FAR as a whole, I want to throw up on floor but when I focus my study sessions on accomplishing a specific goal (working thru DEPS, # of MCQS, 2 hours of videos, etc.) it seems to help mentally.

Also keep in mind that each incorrect response is a learning opportunity! You have great scores, so I'm sure I don't need to mention the importance of taking notes on incorrect responses! 😉 It's better to see 60's now than 2 days before test day. I know how discouraging that feels but some of the other comments are spot on…it doesn't matter because it's just practice!

You will reach a point in your prep when it all comes together, I promise!!!! Just keep working hard and stick to your study schedule. FAR is a marathon, not a sprint!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

Again, thank you to everyone that replied. Your feedback is encouraging and helpful. I felt like my sanity was being tested while doing bond questions. I just need to keep my head up and keep working at it. @Ron Burgundy, I appreciate your feedback on this topic. Unfortunately for me, I cannot wait until I'm “ready” to get my NTS because I live in a state where there are limited options for testing centers. I have to drive two hours to a very small prometric that fills up very quickly as it only sits like five people. With that said, I have to schedule like two months out. I do understand your point, and it probably works different for everyone. @Mints, you are right about getting questions wrong and it is an opportunity to learn. I take notes on every question I get wrong so I can target the areas that I am weak in.

    FAR - PASS
    Audit - PASS
    REG - PASS
