Hey everyone. I just finished going through F2, and just want to ask a couple questions I thought you all would be able to help me with. If it helps at all, I just finished my masters in accounting a few weeks ago.

    1. Just to clarify, is the NINJA method to not do ANY MCQs until you have watched all the videos/taken notes on ALL chapters for a section of the exam? I just want to make sure that with the NINJA method, Jeff means that I should watch/take notes on F1-F10 before doing any MCQs.

    2. How much seems like too much in terms of taking notes? Through F1 and F2, I have about 30 pages of legal pad notes total for both chapters combined. Do you all think this is excessive? I know the NINJA method is to take intense notes, but didn’t know where that becomes counterproductive.

    3. Does anyone think actually reading the chapters in their entirety is useful, or should I stick with taking notes over the lectures (adding certain things Tim/Olinto don’t cover but I think are important)?

Thank you guys very much for any advice!

I'm not familiar with the NINJA methodology (although the NINJA MCQs seem quite nice), but to answer question 3: yes!

Personally, I would re-type out anything and everything that they highlighted… which probably explains why I'm not a big fan of Tim. If they didn't highlight it, I would pause the lecture, read it over once, and move on.

You don't have to devote as much attention to the non-highlighted stuff, but I think it's important to glance at it, nonetheless. On both FAR and AUD, I've gotten a couple of questions that ask for something really specific that Tim and Peter didn't highlight. It's even possible to get a simulation on a topic that Becker barely discusses.

I do just a few MCQs on each topic as I'm reading to make sure I'm processing the information, but I save most of them for closer to the test. I know that I will just forget and have to redo them anyway, so saving MCQs for later is a better use of my time. I do those in my 2 weeks of review before the test.

I don't go full Ninja on the notes. I tend to take notes further along in my studies when I've already committed quite a bit of facts to memory (mostly due to repetition of Ninja Audio), and then I can focus my notes on filling in the gaps. But that won't work for everyone.

I learn by reading, so I read the whole chapter. Not everyone does.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
