I’m using CPAexcel to prepare for FAR. The program goes pretty far into the minute details of pensions.

Is that something that is heavily tested on the exam? I assumed that wasn’t a heavily tested area.

    FAR: 89
    BEC: 88
    REG: 81
    AUD: 76

CPAexcel, NINJA 10 point combo, & NINJA MCQ

"Pain is temporary, it may last for a minute, or an hour, or a day, or even a year...but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit however, it will last forever."

You should know the basics of it, know the formula. Journal entries are fairly basic, but be familiar with them.

    REG-89 (08/26/13)
    FAR-91 (10/28/13)
    BEC-87 (11/25/13)
    AUD-96 (01/06/14)
    Ethics-92 (12/08/13)
    CPA Licensed

It's all fair game! Whether or not someone else saw 1 question or 30 questions on the topic does not mean that you will. No two tests are alike. I took FAR 8 times. It was my first pass (76) and my last pass (85), yes I passed that beast twice! No two tests were alike. Just remember that if something in on the Content Outline, it's fair game on the exam.

I'd definitely know hte PBO and how to calculate periodic pension expense. If for no other reason, it could come up as a SIM question and effect you more than 1 or 2 MCQs.

    10/13/13 - FAR *PASSED* 76
    12/01/13 - AUD *PASSED* 84
    01/09/14 - BEC *PASSED* 84
    02/27/14 - REG *PASSED* 81

Do not underestimate FAR. Could you survive a SIM on pensions complete with journal entries?
