I just did my becker final test and on the simulations it marked a lot of my journal entires incorrect because it was out of order from their answer key..

Is this the same way on the actual exam or does it recognize it in different spots?

I am unaware of any explicit answer to this question.

I would assume, as long as you answer the questions in the order they are asked or would be booked you would be ok.

For example, if you make a sale on credit, I would expect you to enter

AR Dr.

Sales Cr.

before you recognize the receipt of payment

Cash Dr.

AR Cr.

I don't think it should matter if you have an entry with say 2 Debits and 3 Credits which credit is first.

If was for nonmonetary exchanges so i had like

AD

Cash

Bldg

New bldg

Gain

and they wanted the AD last and cash first etc..

Personally, I always put cash first if it's a debit.

I really don't think the order should matter if you have your debits and credits correct but I would try to understand why they book it in that order.

I guess I would book it as:

Cash (received)

New building

AD

Old building

Gain

I e-mailed the AICPA months ago asking this question and this is their response.

“It doesn't matter what order the Debit/Credit responses are entered in as long as the proper corresponding debits and credits are provided with each response.”
