I’ll be taking FAR within the next few weeks.

For the present value / future value / annuity questions – are the numbers for the PV factor etc given or is there a chart given with the question, or are we expected to know how to use the spreadsheet to create the formula to find PV etc?

For example, one of the questions from my book asks about how to record bond issuance and gives “present value of one for ten period at 6% is 0.558, at 9% is 0.422.” Will we be given that information, or do we have to calculate it (beyond simply multiplying / dividing by the PV factor)?

And if we need to create our own formula using the spreadsheet … how to do that?

If you had to calc, the formula is =1/(1.09)^10 to get the PV factor of 9% for 10 years

i hate these bond questions, when i was in school, i always used my financial calculator to calculate these, and never bothered to learn the actual formulas
