Is it worth it? I mean… it’s just testing your writing skills. I feel like if I use a format of some sort, I’ll do just fine. Practicing for these kinda seems redundant. Any opinions?

Go to the Options in Word and turn on the Readability Statistics. You can type a few memos and see where you are at with these. This will give you a good indication of whether or not you need to really practice the written communications. Good Luck!

Passive sentences 25%

Flesch Readability 31.1

Flesch Grade level 12.0

Is what I got for writing a short memo. It sounds like I should be in good shape, just gotta look out for the passive sentences. I didn't know passive sentences were considered as having a ‘low readability' compared to active sentences.

Can anyone actually specify what a good readability score would be? My recent memo had 27% passive sentences, 47% reading ease and a grade level of 12.0.

PS in comparison, I copy & pasted Becker's memo answer and it was 0% passive sentences, 53% readability, and a grade level of 10 haha so what should I be aiming for?
