Hi all,

I am taking FAR in August and was wondering if someone can help me out and rank the Becker chapters from most tested to least likely to be tested. I appreciate your feedback.

Prioritize IFRS, Government Accounting and Not for Profit. Those will only help you come test day. Everything else is important but put those in your back pocket.

becker has a summary in their FAR book at the beginning of approximately what percentage is tested from each subject…

That would be in direct violation of the rules. That being said, this has been discussed for each topic multiple times. Do a search and you'll find that the answer is in your book as they have percentages of how much the material is tested per the AICPA.

Yep, govt accounting was my weak area going into FAR but it only took up maybe 2 chapters out of 20 in the Gleim book so I didn't think it was too big a deal… I learned very quickly that the CSOs matter, not how much space it takes up in your book! It felt like every third question was govt accounting on my test!

My first two attempts? Everything that I did not have time to study for, or just barely glanced at was tested most heavily.

I think it's perception. Those topics were probably in the same ratio as everything else, but since you didnt prepare for them, it seemed like it was the whole test.

Something like GNPH is 12-15%. If you don't study at all, thats a LOT of questions. Like 1 in 6.

I know. To be honest, here is a plug for Jeff, it wasn't until I laid my grubby hands on the Ninja notes that I was able to cement all the information needed and knock down that beast that is FAR.

I would honestly say, if you start trying to truly prioritize, your gonna not end well. Prioritize what you REVIEW at the end, based on what you don't feel comfortable with.

Overapplied – What study materials did you use before you passed? The NINJA notes really helped you that much?! If so, i may purchase them too as part of my review.

I used Gleim – the book set, cd set for far, wiley cpa (just for FAR), the FAR ninja notes, and assorted other odds and ends. I was so mad from making a 74 I used that for motivation.

TBH directed anger is a great study tool; it helps slog through the parts where everything is a distraction.
