    I am studying for FAR right now and as I go through the lectures I take really pay attention, take notes, and carefully read the textbook. I feel like I have a good grasp on the material until I hit the MCQ!

    It is like I am reading gibberish and can barely understand what the question is asking and when I find where the answer is in the textbook I can’t apply it to the MCQ. It’s very frustrating and its making me crazy!! Sometimes I have to look at the answer explanation and I still don’t understand what to do. I have even done some questions multiple times but I still cannot figure out what is going on and I feel dumb. I try to read the material over again and it makes sense, until I go back to the MCQ, which causes me to lose motivation because I still can’t figure it out.

    What should I do I feel like giving up. My test is scheduled for October 19th and I feel like that isn’t even enough time.

    Please help!!

    What study program are you using? Reading the answers to all questions is good, even if you the answer right. I like the Wiley text a lot for that reason. It shows what is right and why the wrong answers are wrong.

    What helps me cement the information I struggle with is: Reading Roger's text (take detailed notes and flag areas I am unsure about), watch the videos (take notes), read the Wiley text (take notes) and start the MCQ's in the Wiley book (again notes as needed). I try to do all of that in one weekend, so it is really fresh when I start the homework. Then during the week, I do the Wiley test bank MCQ's. I don't skip the sims, as I learn a lot from them. This is what has helped me cement the difficult concepts. The long hours can be difficult for some, but it has helped me a lot. if I spend 15 min, then 20 ect . . . it is hard with concepts I struggle with. I use those opportunity moments to review or work on concepts I am comfortable with.

    FAR is a lot of information to go through, but you should be able to be ready for the test by Oct. You can do this!

    We all feel this way, you have to spend most of your time going through the MCQ's and then writing down more things in your notes that you learned in the MCQ's.

    @notebook8,

    Relax and keep doing the problems. Keep reading the text, eventually the materials will come together. But you have to relax. I had the same problem, but my problem really was trying to get it done so fast. It will take time, and if you don't get it right away, keep reading and writing notes.

    It begins with a 75

    Thank you so much everyone!

    I am using Roger and I really like the textbook and the lectures. I try to really pay attention and I am always pausing to take notes. I also make sure to really understand most of the info too. The MCQ is what gets me. Connecting the material to the MCQ is sometimes tricky.

    I haven't read the Wiley Textbook (just Roger's) before doing the MCQ, but I will definitely try that to see if I can pick up any extra information that can help me solve some more questions.

    I think my problem is I sometimes read the question too fast or rush through the MCQ and give up too fast. I think I will try to concentrate on each question and take my time because sometimes when I look at the answer I think “Oh, that was all I had to do?” I think by October 19th I should be ready, but I always feel a sense of urgency, which is why I think I try to rush sometimes. I guess slow and steady wins the race.
