Passing Parts of CPA before graduating!

My goal is to pass FAR and AUD going into my last year at school. Starting the MBA program during the summer. So Job interview season will be coming up in Sept. 2012. Anyone have experience going into interview season having passed parts of the exam? My thought is it would make me standout from the rest and get me lots of job offers. Any advice or thoughts are welcome!

Js that's not true in all states. MA lets you sit with 120. 150 is to be licensed.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

40 states require 150, the other states are in the process of going to 150.

    A - passed
    R - passed
    F - passed

Ok so that means 10 states don't currently require 150 units.

Maybe so but your previous statement does not currently apply to all states. Perhaps the OP already knows the requirements for his or her state.

I think lots of states are different. WA allows you to take the exam, but you must have 150 within 180 days of your first exam and you can't find the scores out until you show proof that you completed all 150 credits. Good luck with your studies/exams/job applying. Everyone of those are difficult, so good luck!

I'm in NY…and have emailed the coordinator…I can sit. I have over 120 and the required classes. Any advice as to advantage in recruiting season or other idea about how to pt this on my resume?

I wouldn't put anything on your resume. I would maybe put it in your cover letter and I would definitely fit it in to your interviews.

@btyler, If you pass a section I'd put it on your resume. On my resume I have “**CPA Candidate, New York–passed three of four sections (January 2012).

@jsblamer, those 40 states that require 150 credits, most of them you can still sit for the exams at 120. You can't get your official license until you have all 150

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I had one section passed going into my last semester of my masters program and I was interviewing during that time. I think it helped A LOT. It helps you stand out from everyone else that is just simply saying that they “plan on taking the exam soon.” Everyone is going to say that they plan to take the exam, but how are employers supposed to know if they will actually follow through? I would definitely put it on your resume.

@btyler, were you allowed to sit for the CPA exam before graduating with your Bachelor's?

LOL idk how this got pulled up but it is applicable to me so I'll post a response. I live in WA and you are allowed to sit 6 months before you have your education requirements completed (it is a hassle getting approved early FYI). I'll have my bachelor's in June, it took me three years to get through community college (couldn't decide what I wanted to do) so I'll also have my 5 years at that point too. I knocked REG out in January and feel uncomfortably optimistic about my BEC exam I just took, but regardless I'm ahead of my peers and I'm really happy I'm knocking this out early. I start full-time at RSM this fall, goal is to have this thing done by September!!
