Passing FAR Section in 6 weeks!

I have been studying for the FAR section of the CPA for about 6 weeks using the Yaeger review program. I have gone through just about all of the lectures once and done the questions in the videos, however, I have not done the additional questions that are recommended. This is my first section of the CPA and I have been out of undergrad for 3 years but I want to know the most effective methods of using the Yaeger Program to pass. Is 6 weeks enough time to do all of the practice questions? Any words of wisdom would be helpful, thank you!

I didn't use Yaeger but 6 weeks is more than enough time to prepare for FAR, especially if you're not juggling a full time job and an active family with kids.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

It really depends on what else you have going on in life. I think it can be done even if you are working full time – you would just have to dedicate most non-work time to studying. If you are working full time and have a family, it may be increasingly difficult. FAR personally took me a while but I was also studying during busy season and could some night only get an hour of study time, at most. I was also working weekends during the time I was studying for FAR.

    AUD (5/25/2012): 91
    FAR (10/22/2012): 89
    REG (11/28/2012): 89
    BEC (01/05/2013): 82
    Ethics Exam: 90

    IL Licensed CPA - 7/15/2013

    A long journey, officially DONE!

I prepared for FAR in 6 weeks with Yaeger & Wiley, and I didn't feel like it was overkill at all… If you put in 2-3 hours a day, that should be more than sufficient time to adequately prepare. I do have two small children and a nagging wife (the latter annoys me constantly) and teach at a local community college, but still had plenty of time.

The key is not the amount of time that you study; it's the quality of the time. My studying protocol consisted of going through the Yaeger lectures one time and then doing the multiple choice and simulations. There were quite a few areas that I felt extremely comfortable (i.e. most of the earlier modules) and just skipped them completely in terms of Yaeger. I did almost all of the MC questions in the Wiley book one time (not just the suggested MC questions by Yaeger). I went into the exam feeling very well prepared; of course I left second-guessing quite a few things, but ended up doing okay.

It is definitely doable! I will be taking FAR in 9 weeks, working full time, going to the gym, and Hawaii for a week and Europe for a week in between now and then (ok, im stressed out now that i've seen that in writing). But seriously, wake up an hour earlier, study at lunch, and study 2 hours after work and as much as you can on the weekends. If you don't have a full time job, you could do iti in 4-5 weeks. Just spend time where you'll get the most benefit- doing the MCQ's. Good luck!!

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

Just to add I do work full-time and go to the gym on a daily basis, I have already gone through most of the lectures yet I do not feel prepared.

I am taking FAR on May 29th. I've been studying since min Jan.

The thing that has prepared me for all of my prior exams that I will use for FAR is the Wiley Test Bank. I take the last 6 weeks before the test and answer every question in the test bank and understand all of the ones I get incorrect.

It has prepared me well for the exams.

    BEC - 5/2012 - 91
    AUD - 8/2012 - 89
    REG - 1/2013 - 90
    FAR - 5/2013 - 88
Wife, 2 kids and a job
