Passed AUD.. Having trouble getting motivated for FAR

    Hi guys..

A little background on my problem: I passed AUD using the 2012 Becker Self Study program for my first exam/first try with an 80 in early December and am currently having trouble getting myself motivated for FAR.. I feel unmotivated – mainly because financial accounting has been much harder for me to grasp quickly in the past and I am pretty unmotivated in general as far as studying goes at this point.

I had already planned on doing the parts in the order of: AUD/FAR/REG/BEC. I wanted to wet my feet with AUD and then churn out the harder parts of the CPA first, but does anyone think I should take BEC or REG next to get myself that much closer to 100% passed, or should I keep on trying to make myself study for FAR?

BTW, I haven’t paid for my NTS or scheduled an exam date yet, so it wouldn’t be a huge deal to change my plans. I mainly just want to get some solid advice on the problem I’m facing from people in my situation before I make up my mind.

    Thanks for the help

I think AUD and FAR should be taken back to back. However, most take FAR first. I vote to keep on studying for FAR. Use this forum as support and motivation as much as possible.

I started with BEC and AUD and left REG and FAR for last. I really hated myself for doing that. FAR was the worst to study for, but the exam was not nearly as bad as I expected (just took it on Friday). None of the exams are fun to study for, as studying sucks in general. You just need to find what drives you to do this. For some, the goal of those three little letters “CPA” is all they've ever dreamed of, or they want to be partner, or they want the money. For me, it's spiting everyone who thought I was too dumb, too lazy, too whatever to stick with this journey (and it's been a year-long one). I passed three and then had a hard time getting motivated for my last exam. Take it from me, if you give yourself a little slacking room and get out of the habit of studying, you will have even more trouble getting back into the routine. Just power through, get it over with, and never look back. And you really should stick with your FAR plans. It is an awesome one to get out of the way.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂
