Order to study FAR? GNP early or at very end?

For people who have taken FAR or have an opinion on this, should I study GNP earlier in my studies? Or save it for the very end so it is fresh? I have heard GNP is a big section of the exam and am wondering what others have done. (I am using Becker currently and they save it for the last 3 chapters)

I'd do it in order. In the materials, they sometimes reference how it differs from regular f/s. Gov't isn't particularly hard, it just has some quirky journal entries, fund based accounting and terms that are a little different. I'd say memorize those government je's though.
    Good luck!

I'd do just the introductory info for Governmental accounting so that it isn't completely foreign when you get back to it at the end of the exam

    Matt –
I went through the material in order (I used Becker) financial accounting first, then GNP. It worked well for me since I was able to keep it fresh in my mind during the exam. Honestly, I didn't actually go through all of GNP since I was running out of time for studying. I remember the exam just keeping it really high level, nothing too detailed – I guess I lucked out? I would just get good at answering the multiple choice questions for GNP as that is pretty much how it is tested I believe. Also, the breadth of the exam is focused on financial accounting so you want to make sure you master that material – give it more priority. Study the financial accounting first and then GNP. If you have some time remaining before your exam, I would go back to reviewing the tougher areas of financial accounting. I'm not saying that you should just blow off GNP but if it came down to limited time and prioritizing and getting the majority of the points for the exam – financial accounting is FAR more important. Even if you don't get to study the GNP in detail, its pretty much MCQs and you can give a good guess on those and get lucky.

I think most if not all review courses put Gov't/NFP at the end (I had Wiley for FAR and from what I've ready others do the same thing as you mentioned with Becker). When I first went through it, I was a little annoyed because everything was so foreign I wondered why they saved it for last, but as @Chrisophulous said, having it last definitely kept everything fresh on the exam. especially since I had no prior experience with the topics at all, good luck
