I must say, the sheer amount of material that there is to study is beyond intimidating. I’m glad I picked this beast as my first section though. When I pass it, I know I will be grateful that it is not going to be a potential ruiner of my 18-month window.

Has anyone else absolutely bombed the diagnostic exams at the beginning of each section (using Wiley here)? The first one or two I got in the 70s, but I took one last night and got a 43. Granted, I know it’s purpose is to expose ignorance and give you a reading of what you need to focus on but still…ouch!

I would recommend holding off on the diagnostic exams until after you've reviewed all the material for the section.

If your like me, I started taking them to see which section I could power through quickly. What I found out is because of the volume of information you eluded too I pretty much needed to review all the material.

Use the study planner, and focus on that week's lessons; weekly complete a 50 question review quiz over all the sections you've completed, and leave yourself a week and half to two weeks to review.

    Good luck!

    Bear,

I'm 2 weeks into studying for FAR (01/30), took a diagnostic over the weekend and scored around 50. I wrote down a few of the sections I did poorly on and spent some time reviewing those areas but continued to move forward. I'm using Roger and using a modified NINJA method, so I'm slugging through the videos (about 1/3rd done) and throwing in a few MCQ but not a lot. Plan to finish the videos sooner and leave plenty of time for MCQ, note taking and review. Amount of material is definitely overwhelming… Good luck!

Herd1101- What is your modified NINJA method that you're using? I was planning on trying the NINJA method when I begin studying for FAR in a couple weeks, but I feel like there's too much information and it would take me way too long to write and re-write the notes. I also want to do some MCQs as I go and not wait till I watch all the lectures before doing any. I'll be using Roger as well.

RE2PECT, I basically just watch all the videos while taking some short/sloppy notes. On occasion I'll go into the Roger test bank and do a few MCQ as well but never spending too much time on them. Basically just a change of pace from the videos if I find myself struggling to pay attention. I'm not to the intense notes part yet but I'm pretty sure there are several post on the forum regarding note taking. I also use NINJA audio on my commute to reinforce the sections that I've already covered in the Roger videos. It definitely made sense to me to get through the videos quicker than Roger's study planners which leave little time for review and do non stop MCQ.
