    I am taking FAR on 10/5/2010 and have 1 attempt to pass prior to changing to include IFRS. I am using Becker study materials, any suggestions on hard / heavily tested areas to spend more time on than others in Becker? Using Becker to study for this. How did it go for anyone who recently took this exam? I know some of the chapters are lighter / easier than others but not sure what is the heavy areas on the exam.

    I am using Yaeger and take the exam tomorrow. One question that you are asking might be close to over the border… as for the toughness of the material – I would say that any of it individually is painful, but put it all together and its just a lot of concept to remember. Also it depends on your background… If you are right out of school you will remember a lot of this from your Intermediate accounting classes as well as advanced accounting. For me the Governmental has been tough (no background and no class in school) also it is about 10% of the grade, which for FAR is quite a bit.. Hope this helps

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

    @Trevor

    I wasn't looking for specific exam topics / and experiences more of “really know (in becker) F3, F5 and F7” or something along the lines of that. I am not right out of school, however have to keep up (based on F1) with the material I have been through so far for work.

    Governmental does not sound fun at all…

    Good luck tomorrow… Knock it out then knock out REG and be done going into the new year!

    Yea that is what I thought you were looking for. Thanks, my plan going in was to be done with the exam by the time I turned 23 (Late November) so hopefully I get good word on FAR in the middle of September, otherwise it may be a christmas present… Also plan to take the ethics exam next month to get that over with..

    If you were to take the test and someone else took the test right next to you – the exams would be different. I can tell you I took BEC twice – the exams covered all areas that I was suppose to prepare for. The two exams were different but both fair.

    People have posted and let things slip but one may say I was heavily tested on topic A and the next post would be I had no questions on Topic A

    It is all up for grabs

    My suggestion is take each chapter and break it out by topic, listen and highlight, read the text, do the MCQ, take notes then move onto the next topic

    Take Progress tests so you don't forget the material

    Peter Olinto suggests mini reviews after every 3rd chapter

    Make a schedule and stick to it – I fell behind mine and need about 10 days and the test is tomorrow!

    Good luck

    I have a schedule mapped out fairly well with about 130 hours total including 1 week to review. I am covering 2-3 chapters per week. With a Lecutre, Read, MC, Supp, Sim pattern for all chapters. Then redoing the MC questions at the end of week 4 and final review week 5. But I think you are right (or P. Olinto) regarding a progress test every 3 chapters. I will mix that into plan.

    Good luck tomorrow…
