Before I start, please spare me with the “motivation=energy” pep talks. Trust me, I am plenty motivated to conquer this sucker and can’t wait to pass! I actually ENJOY studying and learning. 🙂 It’s the energy part I struggle with.

All you candidates out there who have big families (children especially), work long hours, and still have energy to do other things on top of your studying amaze me and I commend you. So I’m reaching out to you for some honest advice: Where do you get your energy from to study after work?

I’ve been doing swell the past week, however I’ll have to admit that if I felt a little more upbeat after my workday and ready to take on studying, I’d feel like my 2 hour study time during week nights was much more effective/efficient. I usually wake up around 5am and get in my workout (which is very important to me in staying healthy, so I certainly won’t skip those for a 6-8 month period.. I pack on pounds just looking at food). Then work is 7 to 5:30/6, after I cook dinner with the hubs, and after that is dedicated to study time…. which is when the exhaustion hits.

Just looking for your ideas on getting more energy at night! 🙂 I hate the feeling of barely being able to keep my eyes open while studying. Maybe I need more sleep, or some midday caffeine… I don’t know. Anything would help though!

    cocaine.

No, seriously I steal the neighbor kid's ADD medication.

You already said that you don't want to hear the real answer but when I get motivated, I study and have no problems with energy. Temper, most certainly. I find that passing exams is kind of intoxicating and honestly the good press and attaboys at work help as well. You could flip the coin and also say that fear of failure drives me on when I am exhausted.

I drank at least 2 liters of mountain dew per day while studying.

drink coffee or tea.. i prefer tea.. fill up your cup before you leave work and drink on the ride home.. get yourself mentally ready on the ride home.. once the studying becomes a habit you wont have trouble with energy.. make it a part of your life and do it without thinking about it… ive also found that running a few miles in the mornings (wake up 30 mins earlier than usual) really helps keep you fresh throughout the day.

def. dont drug yourself or drink red bull or moutain dew every night.. not healthy. good luck!

caffeine doesn't even do it for me. A good walk helps. (even if you don't have time, record some notes and listen to them as you walk). And there was no energy. I've never seen this show called the walking dead but I am sure it was about me.

2 hours per week night was the most I could stay focused without energy boosters.

I started eating chocolate or taking caffeine tablets (don't recommend them, coffee is still better).

A little bit of recreational exercising and fresh air helps. Eating a balanced diet too.

    Three things:

1- This isn't true for everybody, but I feel certain most people that it IS true for don't realize it. Hydration. When I'm dehydrated, I'm exhausted. So for me that means no caffeine after noon, and double the amount of water that I think I need.

    2-A good B complex vitamin.

3- The Pomodoro Technique – it's a game changer, a paradigm shift. You can download the pdf book free from their website at https://www.pomodorotechnique.com/book.html and you should actually read the whole thing. It isn't long.

I hesitate to mention one other thing. I'll just preface it with an acknowledgement that everybody's different and what works for a lot of people won't work for some. My opinion is that 2 hours per night isn't enough. You're going to either spread your studying out too long or you'll under cover material. Is there any way your husband could handle dinner? I honest to god don't know what I would have done without my husband handling everything the past six weeks. He has a kind of crazy work schedule, so he has time to cook the first three days of the week while he's off. We got good at casseroles and lasagna and salad. I know it sounds terrible, but it's only a short term sacrifice for a huge reward.

try working out after work instead. i'm usually exhausted about 5 or 6 hours after I work out….but right after I work out I have a ton of energy.

I'm no doctor but I do tell hot women I am one…..no not really.

But I will throw my two cents in to say that I've heard story after story after story about young people…..early 20's, 30's etc who are dropping dead of heart attacks for no apparent reason. They are healthy people and doctors are beginning to wonder if it isn't from these energy drinks that appeal to young people.

    Please be careful
