I don't think any firm requires an entry level staff accountant to have their CPA upon hire. However, there may be a time frame in when the certification is to be obtained. It varies between firms. I've been at my firm for 5+ years and just started buckling down last year to try to pass all four because I've been at my current position waaayy tooo longgg.
