I have an NTS here in California for REG that expires on 1/23/2010. I schedule my exam for 1/22/2010. I had been studying, but my grandfather passed away on December 10th. I read that if I write a letter along with a death certificate, they will extend, but I want to be sure that they will accept it. They take two weeks to process the request, and I want to make sure that they will extend it. I don’t want to not study for the next few weeks (expecting an extension) and not get one. However, I also don’t want to study the next few weeks for no reason.

Just submit it if you want and study anyways. Worse case is you have more time to prepare. You can always take the exam before the NTS extension time frame.

Or you can just eat the cost and not worry about it.
