I first do flash cards, then QUICKLY glance over the section then do the related mc. It has been taking forever bc there are so many problems. It also does not reassure me much sense I am forgetting things.

Apparently I forgot everything to do with F2… 59%.. I've never had this low on any other HW the second time around… Thank you FAR for holding me back.

@splinter1643 Thanks so much for your response on page 2 of this thread — much appreciated! I have the Wiley book. A friend let me borrow it. The friend has worked the problems & answered in the book so it's a little hard to use it for questions. As for areas I am weak — that is just the thing! I made a 74 but my score page said I was weaker in ALL areas but 1. Comparable in 1. Weaker in MC and comparable in Sims. So strange that I could have apparently done so poorly but still scored 74!? Thanks again for your encouragement. I think I have discovered that in the end, we can all ask for study approach guidance, but that ultimately we all just have to figure our what works best for us. (Re-writing first vs doing MC first vs doing re-writing as final review.) Best wishes & I appreciate your time with a response!

    F9…oh my god.

Up to this point I was like “Its a lot of material but I havent really looked at anything and been like what is going on”. Now I know that feel.

I understood F8 very easily, but this whole consolidation thing and random primary/component unit stuff has me all confused.

Im on F2.. and I have completely forgotten everything.. all those little details.. Im not sure if I should skip re-reading, and just do non-stop MCQ's from now until my exam in a week..

    @futuremdcpa

I vote non-stop MCQ, reading a huge chapter doesn't usually help me. I need the application. I learn tons more by doing MCQ. I use to think I was the other way around until I failed a few times and realized I needed to try something new.

I am on Stockholder equity right now and plan to got to governmental tonight. I am holding PV for last because it is my least favorite section.

Im still on F2.. have about 70 questions left.. I don't think I want to continue doing this anymore.. everyday that passes by I just feel less and less motivated.. nothing will help me.. Ive tried redbulls, adderall, sleeping more.. nothing..

I don't think I can cover F2-F10 in 7 days.. There is just no way. I start work 2 days later and if I do reschedule it would be end of novemeber.. By then I will forget everything no matter how many progress tests I do.. I don't know what to do anymore.. Im just done. I regret starting this whole CPA-crappy journey.

@futremdcpa – You're having a crappy day. We all have them but you're so close with three exams behind you. Is your 18 months running out? Can you take a break and regroup? You're starting a job – which makes it definitely tougher but people do get through this with jobs. Study time comes whenever you can squeeze it in. Which means no life but it's not forever. Having to get through one exam while working is better than having to do it with all four. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

Does anyone think reading the chapter in the textbook is worth is after watching the video and taking notes (using Yaeger 2011) for FAR?

Stay_Positive: I use becker but I believe that rereading the chapter is the best way for me to actually understand the material since the questions on the actual exam will most likely include examples outside of the multiple choice. If you have the time to study I would read it but if time is not available then skimming may be the better option. Good luck!

I started studying for FAR which I plan to take in November. I have been writing out my NINJA notes and I am on Chapter 6, hope to finish this weekend. I really like the NINJA study plan. I've been getting up early at 5AM, I find that I am fresher and more alert in the morning. I can also think about my notes during the day. I am using the Becker materials, and Wiley Test Bank.

These posts are very helpful and motivating.

I agree with BrandonCPA. I also check my memory and focus more on parts of the chapter that I'm most likely going to forget in 3 days.

Guys, I really do not understand this MCQ and I thought that I would post it to you so that I could move on, otherwise I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how they came up with the answer. Here goes:

Ace Co. sold to King Co. a $20,000, 8%, 5-year note that required five equal annual year-end payments. This note was discounted to yield a 9% rate to King. The present value factors of an ordinary annuity of $1 for five periods are as follows:

    8% 3.992

    9% 3.890

What should be the total interest revenue earned by King on this note?

    a. 9,000

    b. 8,000

    c. 5,560

    d. 5,050

“c” is the correct answer with this explanation.j

    Annual payments = 20,000 / 3.992 = 5010

5 equal pmts of principle and int. = x5

    total payments = 25,050

**Discounted note = 5010 x 3.890= (19,490)*** (this step is what I do not understand)

    Total interest over 5 years = 5,560
