So, I haven't posted in this thread since the very beginning when I first started studying, but I read posts on these forums every day. So much helpful information!

Anyhow, I'm really not sure how I'm doing with my studying. I'm using Becker, and followed their 5 week course schedule and had 3 weeks to review. I kept up with the class pretty well, but didn't do enough review of prior information along the way. Last week (my first review week), I reworked *all* of the homework for F1-F9, including optional Q's (~1400 questions). I should mention that I have taken quite a few notes along the way, both from the text and then from the MC questions (always try to write something down when I get a question wrong).

This week I'm working my way through the Wiley test bank. So far I've attempted 730 questions, and gotten an average of 76% right. I'd say probably 1/4-1/2 of the ones I got wrong were due to the question not being covered by Becker material. The other half I either forgot how to do, read the question wrong, or accidentally clicked on the wrong answer. I feel like the Wiley questions are easier than the Becker ones but maybe that's because I'm doing mixed tests vs. working Becker chapter by chapter.

Before I sit for the exam on the 20th I want to do many progress tests in Becker, finish the remaining Wiley Q's, watch the Authoritative Literature video, work simulations in both Wiley & Becker, rewrite some of my notes (and Ninja notes), write out JE's from the Becker text, take 2 final exams, and probably some other stuff I'm not remembering. I'm working 20 hours a week, so I can devote the rest of the time to studying (as long as I stay focused).

I guess I'm wondering if scoring 76% on the Wiley MC's at this point means I'm on the right track? Obviously I want to do as well as possible on the MC's on the test because the sims will be so hard.

Any feedback? Sorry for the long post! 🙂

2 questions — 1) There are December test dates available on Prometric —- is this legit? I live in Georgia. Can I schedule on one of the December test dates?? 2) I am currently scheduled for Tuesday, the 13th. Do weekends count for the 5 days rescheduling time period? If I reschedule tonight, would I only pay the $35? PLEASE HELP if you can! Thanks!!

I live in Idaho and rescheduled for Dec 6th, as far as I understand all states have extended dates.

Don't know about the fee, try it and see . ..? I suppose you could decide not to reschedule when you see the price.

I've actually thought about rescheduling because I don't feel prepared to take it on Nov. 19. However, I don't think that I can stomach spending another few weeks studying FAR so I'm just going to take it. I just want to get my life back and actually enjoy Thanksgiving and my son's birthday. I've missed out on so much these past 9 months! If I have to retake it in Jan/Feb then it is what it is and hopefully by then, I will be refreshed and ready to study again.

    AUD- 4/12- 82
REG- 7/12- 81 Did they even grade my SIMS?
    BEC- 8/12- 76
    FAR- 11/19/12- 82!!!!

    Hello fellow candidates:

I am a little bit frustrated, tired, and sad, and need help from all of you guys. I started my CPA journey with FAR back in April/ 2010. I studied with KAPLAN review course and took the test on 08/31/10 and passed it with a score of 80. I was very happy to pass it in the first try. Now since my socre has expired, I am studying for it now and I am scheduled to take it on 11/26/12. Now I am using BECKER.Since I have started studying for FAR, a lot of material that I enconter are not familiar at all. Has the content changed so dramatically. How I can take advantage of the hard work and sweat that I put into it in 2010. Especially I need help from folks who have the same experience as mine. I have already thrown out all the material that I used then. How naive and supid I was. I thought I would be able to pass all four parts on first try, but boy I was wrong. The only thing I kept is the “power point” print outs with my notes. Should I go back and review those. Please whoever is reading this post if you can help me do so. I really appreciate for your help and hope and pray that by helping me God will help you in your life. Thank you.

Love2passcpa, I can certainly sympathize with your frustration! I'm currently using Becker which is all that I have used for the past 3 sections and was able to pass. I am hoping that Becker will get me through FAR as well. I've been out of college for over 20 years so A LOT of the material was either new to me or I had just forgotten it. I've had to spend a lot of time just learning the material. I always read through all the chapters one at a time, do the MCQs by chapter and then in my review phase, I reread all highlighted areas and redo the MCQ's. It probably seems like double the work, but I've found that it's the only way that I can make it “stick” in my brain. Good luck!

Anyone else have a problem with class question 15 in Becker auditing section 4 (page F4-73)? It bothered me that the question assumed straight line depreciation to compute the current year depreciation as well as no mention of a salvage value (which I can live with, but not as much as the straight-line assumption). Especially since it doesn't seem like the asset was depreciated using straight line given the beginning of the year carrying value??? Maybe I'm reading too much into this?

    BEC - done!
    REG - done!!
    AUD - done!!!
    FAR - Yes!!!!

Becker self study all on first try. Thank you Peter and Tim!

So since I found my failing score for BEC yesterday (even though a 14 pt increase over prior, but missing by 1!), I took some time to re-evaluate my studying. I have been at this for a few years and I just want this to be so done. Life will most likely be changing for me in a year or so and I don't want this hanging over my head. I have decided to take today and re-arrange a room in our home to be my study area .. only my study area with no distractions, as well as some studying. I have tweaked my study plan for the next 2 exams and tried not to make it as aggressive as I always find mine are.

This weekend for FAR consists of:

(Lectures for Ch 1 already done)

    Reading Chapter 1

    Chapter 1 MCQs

    Becker Flashcards for Chapter 1

Re-writing NINJA notes that relate to Chapter 1

I have posted before that I was going to get Chapter 1 and 2 done, but that never happened. I swear when I know I am waiting for a score .. I hold my breath and life stops until I get that score.

Sorry for the long post, but I just needed to put it in writing (typing) that I AM going to do this, so now I have to live up to this and no more slacking. I also just needed to vent that I HATE FAILING!!!

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @ silliepanda

I can sympathize with you. I am sorry to hear about missing your BEC score by one point. I had a similar experience with AUD. The first time I took the exam ( which was my fault, I did not finish the review material) I received a 65. The next time I took the exam I received a 74! I was sooooo disappointed because this messed up my idea of when I would be finished. I thought though that because I was so close that I had it in the bag the next time and I scored a 72! I could not believe it!!! WHAT? So I did some things to change my study routine and followed Jeff's advice of the “ninja notes” and “ninja audio”. And, on my next attempt I received a 80! Now I am studying for FAR and I planned on taking the test at the end of October but knew that I was not ready. That meant I lost REG and BEC passing scores! (okay I was almost ready to throw in the towel on this whole CPA thing). But, I am getting there with FAR. I have my exam scheduled for Nov 30th and I will definitely be more prepared than if I took the exam Oct 30th.

Rearranging your study area is a good idea. Sometimes that makes you feel better and whatever it takes to make your studying more successful, do it. Obviously, you can do this because you have done this! It is hard no doubt. I have been at this since summer 2009, WE WILL ACCOMPLISH THIS!

Bless your heart , and keep your chin up!
