Hey everyone…havent been on here in a few weeks. figured i would come on for some much needed support.

after my vacation a few weeks ago i started to watch yeager videos..i watched the 51 hours of videos in about 2 and a half weeks….now im back to my exxammatrix and im still bombing the questions……there is so much material on far i cant remember it all from the lecture videos and im still guessing on these questions….have my test november 30th and there is no way i will be ready by then..

the first couple weeks of studying and doing really, really bad on the exammatrix questions i thought if i spent the time watching lecture videos it might give me a little base knowledge….now i feel like it just wasted the last couple weeks watching them since i still suck at these questions…im so far behind

I am confused on NFP questions from Wileys. Per Becker book, there are four statements that are required: Stmt of Financial Position, Stmt of Activities,Cash flows, and functional expenses. I am working through the Wiley's questions… and one of the questions asked where you would report unrealized gains on investments which are perm., restricted and the answer is on Statement of changes in net assets. I thought there is no Statement of changes in net assets for NFP. Please help… I think I studied too much… 🙂

I am answering my own question. The key was to see that it was asking about Heather Care Org. which Becker doesn't emphasize the difference. “For both private sector and governmental health care organizations, financial statements include a balance sheet, a statement of operations, a statement of changes in net assets, a cash flow statement, and notes to the financial statements. The statement of operations may be combined with the changes in net assets, or may be presented separately.”

    @ihatestudying,

I understand where you are coming from. I can tell you that I had to alter my original study plan for FAR. I thought that I would be ready by a certain date but realized that FAR contained so much detailed information that I needed to do things differently.

I started like I did for AUD (which I passed) listening to all of the lectures and then rewriting the Ninja notes. When it came to the MCQ I was not ready. Maybe I did not have a good foundation from college; I am not sure. But needless to say, I did not retain enough information so I decided to go back and take DETAILED notes and made my own flash cards for formulas, nuggets of information, etc. Now, I am doing much better on the MCQs. It has definitely taken more time then I planned for. I work full time but take a vacation day whenever I can to study and when I test it will be 3 months of preparing for me. This is more than I hear most people need but if that is what I need, then that is what I am going to do. I want to PASS!

My point to all of this is that find what works for you. If you need to go back and review that subject again, take additional notes, make flash cards, just do it. It may take additional time and effort but it will all be worth it in the end.

Also remember you are not alone. This section of the exam is a little different then the others (at least for me it is).

    Good Luck with your studies.

Looking back now, another thing that annoyed me about taking FAR was I felt that out of 10 Becker chapters like 3.5 of them were tested. I was actually shocked at the amount of stuff I was struggling to study, re-learned, and did MCQ till the death of me that I dont even think I saw a simple MCQ on.

I guess sometimes it really comes down to luck and what kind of exam you get.

@stokey…..i think i may try and make up some flash cards…like i did for BEC… im trying to think of different calculations, formulas or multi-step type things that i can make flash cards for but i cant even remember everything that was covered in the yeger videos….too much info…

im thinking EPS calculations, percentage of completion, fifo and lifo/perpetual and periodic, maybe some bond calculations, bonus and goodwill methods for partnerships………..

can you tell me what other formulas and calculations you made into flash cards? i cant even think of them now…too much stuff on FAR

$#$% NFP really sucks. I gotta hammer this section out the next few days. Definitely my weakest area.

@ ihatestudying Did you take notes when you watched the videos? That's what I do. I find the NINJA notes also contain a lot of great “fact nuggets”. I can't believe you watched all the Yaeger videos in 2.5 weeks! I've been trying to get through them for the past 2 months 🙂 I guess I just get more distracted and bored than you…LOL. I'm watching S/H Equity now…I find Phil and the other guy SUPER boring and confusing, but I also enjoy watching Cindy…she seems to make it easy to understand.

No. Didn't take notes. Probably should have. I just watched videos straight through. Didn't do all the questions after each video. Just watched one after another about 4 hours a day and more on weekends.

Still having a rough time with the questions.

Now I may need to go through all the chapters again totale notes on flash cards. Unless someone has some sort of list of what calculations I should put on flash cards. Lol

I have ninja notes. Gonna go through those again

I made flashcards as I went through each chapter and kept studying the flashcards everyday as I went through each chapter, to keep the old material fresh in my mind. I didn't include JEs on them but in retrospect, I wish I did – I just did major concepts, pass keys, etc. Today I spent the day writing out JEs as I went through the book, so this week I'll study those, the notes I made last week of questions I got wrong in my review, my flashcards I don't know, and keep doing MCQs.

The office is closed tomorrow due to the storm so I'll get another full day in which is nice. I just hope I don't lose power, which is likely given the forecast.

I just took a 200 question progress test and scored an 85. Not surprisingly, F9 was my killer, specifically the NFP questions.

I'm taking FAR tomorrow and just finished the two final exams, which were not as bad as I expected. My average was around 80 I guess. Now I'm redoing some MCQ that I previously got wrong but still not getting most of them right. So now I'm starting to panic lol If you worked on MCQ like two or three times, do you tend to memorize answers and get them right when you redo them? I just realized I keep choosing wrong answers for the questions that I tried like four times.. what's wrong with me? lol

Can anyone explain ‘interfund activity' from F-8, specifically the bit about reciprocal interfund activity and non-reciprocal interfund activity? I get the FS display and disclosure piece but I just don't understand what they're talking about regarding the reciprocal vs non-reciprocal stuff. Thanks.

Okay I just did my first go round with the MCQs for the statement of cash flows. The concept I understand, but the twisted questions would throw me off. Needless to say I did not do too well. I am going back and doing them again!
