    Hi far group,

I have not posted in a while. I was busy completing extentions but since then I have not been able to regain momentum for studying. I have three children in college and they have been very demanding lately, but again I can't seem to get a momentum. I'm just not sure…can anyone help. I have not scheduled far but I wanted to take it by the end of November. Now it looks like Jan. is a better time. Just don't want to put it off anymore. Any help with procrastination?

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

@DatFutureCPA – it's a good sing that your MCQ testlets were harder than the first.

    @ bamer101

Thats what I've heard, but its not a good sign that they were hard in that I might have bombed that section 🙁

Becker question CPA-00227. blah blah reported retained earnings of 150k at 12/31/x1. they discovered merchandise costing 40k had not been included in inventory in year 1. tax rate 30%. what amount should they report as adjusted beginning RE at 12/31/x2. wrong answer: 190k. correct answer: 178k. I don't get it. Why would inventory be subject to a tax rate?

    Thanks in advance…

If inventory is not included and it should have been your COGS sold would be too high affecting your taxes. Plugging in fake numbers using inventory valued both ways helps.

@kjzjazz – since they technically didn't follow GAAP, that's an accounting error and RE needs to be adjusted, net of tax.

150+(40*(.7))=178. You add it to RE since ending inventory was understated so COGS (and thus NI) was overstated.

Yes, R/E is net of tax.

Okay guys.. I have two days till my exam (27th) and I have run out of time to go through my flashcards again and write down important things to remember… Tomorrow is my last full day to study (I've been told not to push too hard the day before- I don't want to go into overload) do you think it's a good idea just to hit Wiley MCQs and SIMS all day? And look up info on areas I'm weak in? I'm thinking this is my only option now…. Thanks!

Good luck Knights! I haven't taken yet so I'm not in the best position to answer but that's exactly my plan for my last study day….hitting MCQs on my weak areas and reviewing those areas.

For FV levels, I know you use the lowest level if you have multiple levels in the FV – but do they mean lowest as in smallest number of lowest as in lower on the scale? E.g. If you have a Level 2 and Level 3 price, is 2 lower or 3 lower?

I understood it as level 1 is lowest, and the one you want to use if possible. So in your example you'd use level 2.

I'm about 15 hours out from my exam… These last hours suck! I stopped studying at 5PM today because I'm exhausted and I don't want my brain to be on overload… I guess I will skim through my notes in the morning on some important subjects and just try my best… so nervous but trying to stay calm.

Well today is my day to do all the SIMs again. I just hope I don't lose power next week due to the Hurricane….I'll make sure my laptop is fully charged so I can keep doing MCs. How lame am I.

Okay I have my exam scheduled for the end of November. My studying has been slow going; I want to make sure I understand the concepts not just memorizing them. I have been pulled away from studying because of work ( corp extensions and Individual extensions as well as 3rd quarter payroll returns) and just life (my daughter having her wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and she still needs and wants her Mom close by). I still try to study about 3 hours a day and on my days off about 4. So I am getting there.

I can tell you that FAR scares me to death. Emotionally that effects my studying as well. I think if I pass FAR then I will have no doubts about becoming a CPA. I have passed all the others but lost BEC & REG so I will have to retake them. I keep giving myself pep talks about how I CAN DO THIS. This website helps me tremendously!

Thanks Jeff and the others who post.

Good luck to everyone who is taking FAR this window!!
