I'll be sitting for FAR around Thanksgiving.. my first section (and my first post on these forums!). I plan on using Becker online, Wiley Test Bank and likely Ninja Notes as well. I quit my full-time job effective today, and will be working part-time and studying for the next six months. Fun times ahead!
As I'm re-taking this, I'm studying the chapters out of order, I absolutely love chapter 1 too, but NFP accounting confuses me…. for the next 70-ish days I will be using Becker and Roger CPA (which comes with Wiley).
I will take exam at the end of November. I will schedule the exam closer to the day, I am just afraid of a snow storm around that time, it happened before and if I do 11/30 I might not be able to take it in that window.
I got a 67 without studying NFP, I ran out of time and my NTS was expiring, so just went to the exam anyway. I had 10 days to review and it was not enough. I went into the exam without reviewing chapter 1-4 in Becker.
I have print outs of the Becker MQ and work those first and then in the software. Just got Wiley too.

Hi, I am having problem with one of Becker's questions:
On January 1, 1989, Bay Co. acquired a land lease for a 21-year period with no option to renew. The lease required Bay to construct a building in lieu of rent. The building, completed on January 1, 1990, at a cost of $840,000, will be depreciated using the straight-line method. At the end of the lease, the building's estimated market value will be $420,000. What is the building's carrying amount in Bay's December 31, 1990, balance sheet?
Correct Answer: 798,000
my question: the calculation for the correct answer does not include the salvage value of the building ($420,000) at the end of the lease, why?
How is everyone planning to tackle simulations? With REG and AUD I was able to find everything through the research tab…is it similar with FAR, or could there be SIMs I won't be able to do research on?

I am using Becker and I am on F4 right now. In explanations to one of the practice question they mention that knowing “Retail Inventory Worksheet” is very important…what is this? I don't see this mentioned anywhere in the book nor did they discuss it in the lectures..what am I missing?
Hi all. I'm taking FAR on Oct. 1st and I just got done going through all lectures/MCQs once. Now it's time for that good old round 2 of HW questions and sims 🙂 To be completely honest I have been skipping a lot of sims recently 🙁 hopefully that wont bite me in the ass on the exam day
I take it in the first few days of October.. I still have to read all of F5-F10, and do all the MCQ's for F5-F10. I think I am pretty much screwed and SOOOOOO overwhelmed…
I am in as well! I just failed FAR with a 71 so am looking to get right back into it. I also ordered the Roger Cram as some else mentioned. It should arrive any day now and I am excited (sad when study materials excite you!). I am becoming really nervous because I need to pass FAR and Audit (which I have passed and lost due to the 18 months) by 1/31 or I lose REG. I REALLY do not want this to happen so I need to find the motivation to keep going. I have been at this for 3 years now and I am so ready to just be able to say I passed all of these!
