I'm in!!! I am starting to re-study FAR! Going to take it towards the end of November. Not sure how to re-study something, but I am assuming I will start reading each section then MCQ, the notes, and I am going to read my Ninja notes twice a week. I hope the information sticks better this time around.

Im skipping lectures this time because I don't get much from them except wasted time. –

Do you mind if I ask what you made last time?

I did terrible last time! 54 and I had a lot of time in it. A big part was nerves on exam day plus just not remembering what I had studied for. I really feel like my study time wasn't used the right way. You have to study in a different way for these exams. I completely re-amped my routine for AUD and feel so much better that exam.

I am also the mom to 2 young children so finding time to study is a challenge. Any tips from other parents would be great.

I'm not a parent so I can't help with that. I think the best thing is to do tons of MCQ. You have to go at it like you have never taken it before. If you notice you are struggling with a particular section – mine is PV of bonds & leases – then it is probably best to listen through the lecture and focus your MCQ on that until you mastered it. Also, as you do quizzes, and if you got something wrong or didn't understand it, write it down. Also, it may be worth it to re-write the Ninja Notes to make sure you are really soaking in the information and not just skimming through. After you thoroughly read the Ninja Notes, I would take a diagnostic practice test. Based on that, you will have an idea of what areas you need to focus on. For a week focus on those areas and take another practice test, rinse and repeat.

    Good luck!

I'm using Gleim, which is broken up into 20 Study Units. I am studying under the assumption that I will be able to take the test the last week of November. I need to do 4 study units per week if I want 2 weeks of review. I may have to knock it down to 3 units per week and 1 week of review before the exam. Good Lord … I'm getting stressed just thinking about it. Anyway … here's my plan.

    Read Study Unit notes

Answer 1st set of MCQ's – Open Note

    Review

    View audiovisual presentation

    Answer T/F Questions

    Review

    Answer 2nd Set of MCQ's

    Review

    Simulation

At the end of each week, I plan to take a cumulative quiz on all sections covered to date.

Sounds like a good start just make sure you take tons of notes. It really does help, especially when reviewing MCQ and lectures.

Hi everyone! I would like to join in this FAR study group.

I have been out of school since 1997, and this will be my first part of the exam, although I have 2 decades of experience in Financial Accounting and several years now in Tax Prep.

I am using the Yaeger CPA Review 2012 DVDs (along with the Wiley textbook), and so far I find them to be easy to follow and insightful. I started studying on 10/1, and am still awaiting my NTS from NASBA. I hope to find an exam time the last week of November … fortunately, my schedule is very flexible.

Best wishes for much success to all!

    @delcpa

As far as I know we just come on here and message how our progress is and if we are struggling or anything like that. It is a good place to be held accountable. What is your strategy for studying?
