AnonymousInactiveI think everyone feels that way at first. I would recommend doing the MCQ ‘open book/notes'. I don't think your first time going through the MCQ is the time to test your knowledge as much as understand what they are asking and how to answer it correctly. I have found if I try to answer with out looking up things, I miss more and get discouraged, leading me to just randomly click and answer and read the question versus working through it to arrive at the best answer myself. Make sense?

Totally. I just wished that during lectures, they went over more questions than just reading the rules and concepts.
Good to see this will be the last and final test for you! I still have few more to go. sigh! good luck 🙂

AnonymousInactiveI totally know what you mean. Being that this is about the millionth time for me to take FAR, I don't use lectures, there comes a point that it becomes useless, at least for me. Now I am doing a crap ton of MCQ, Note Writing, Note Reviewing (Ninja) and Audio (Ninja) Hopefully this will do the trick! I am so ready to be done I can hardly stand it. I just want to be able to go and blow without feeling so stinkin guilty!
Also, congrats on the 80 in BEC, that thing is a monster.

QQMemberHi everyone! I am starting Becker's FAR 2012 edition on Wednesday… I took AUD today and need Tuesday as a break to recover from it. Getting_There, I think you can do it. I did something similar before with BEC and FAR. I watched 6 of 9 lectures and did the required homework for 5 or 6 of those lectures and had run out of time. I got a 74 on FAR last July so you have much more time and are only trying to study for one test… I was studying for BEC and FAR at the same time in a two month period.
Just make sure you give plenty of time for SIMs and look up anything you are even the least bit shaky about in the Authoritative Literature.
My plan is to tackle it as if I hadn't studied at all for it yet. I am glad I found this though because seeing others progress through it will help keep me going and from procrastinating. I can't handle any more Gearty and Olinto! 🙁
I love the tip of doing the questions as open book/notes. I may do that this time around for the first round of questions. I want to have time to watch each lecture, do all MCQs and SIMS twice, do each final exam and then do more questions and it is intimidating with 10 lectures to sit through!
NASBA makes me cry.

wantCPAMemberI started studying few days ago – still doing F2.
I am scheduled for 11/29. I definitely believe you have more than enough time to tackle FAR. It all depends on how much you spend time studying each day.
Good luck!

olivertwist1234MemberI am writing out my NINJA Notes for Chapter 6 – Bonds. The material does seem to be sinking in better when I write notes, I'm trying to stick to an outline format, noting important points and Pass Keys. Next up is Pensions — . Has anyone else written out their own notes? It just seems to take so long!

omgthtcpaMemberhi everyone,
i'm sitting for FAR (my very 1st part) the day before thanksgiving and am using Becker self-study. just wondering, for those that have used Becker, what's your study strategy? i'm getting very sick and tired of being consumed by studying day after day… any advice is helpful. TIA!
FAR - Nov 2012 = 73; Feb 2013 = 83!!! WOO!!!
AUD - Apr 2013
REG - Jul 2013
BEC - Aug 2013October 3, 2012 at 11:01 pm #384321
QQMember@omgthtcpa my strat is as follows
Watch a few lecture sections, depending on their length and then do the homework for that section.
After the lectures are done for that lesson, do the optional ?s and the Sims.
I plan on doing that for every lecture and as I need breaks from lectures/MCQs, start reading the book for lessons I have already watched.
So by the time I finish all 10 lessons, I should have everything done once and have read the book to reinforce stuff.
then, redo all of the questions, required and optional and redo all the sims. Identify continued weak points. study those more and practice them. review notes, practice memorizations, etc. then
Do the final exams.
Then if I am still breathing and haven't killed myself by overloading my brain, try and find a way to understand those weak points.
TLDR: Basically, watch everything, do the homework for each lesson before moving on to the next one, then after it all, redo all the homework and review hard to understand areas.
NASBA makes me cry.
