rmm91909ParticipantI am taking FAR tomorrow at 1:30 and I am just wondering what works best for people the night before the exam. Do you still work MCQs until you can’t stand it anymore or do you reread your notes? Or do you do nothing at all? Just curious!

oneFREAKINGpointMemberI'm taking FAR tomorrow afternoon too. I'm just going through topics I think I need a refresher on and trying to convince myself that I can pass this beast. There's really not much else I can do at this point, right? 🙂

RedRage00MemberI know I'm going against the grain here, but I really don't do much the night before the exam but read my notes. I figured at that point I either know the material or I don't. I feel like I've put in the time and hours….and I want to go into the exam fresh and not burned out.

rmm91909Participantredrage that is what I was thinking too. If I don't know it know I feel like I am not going to know it tomorrow. At this point I feel as though getting problems wrong is going to get me nervous. Might just do a couple more testlets of 20 and then relax and read my NINJA guide before bed.
GOOD LUCK tomorrow oneFreakingpoint!! O how I know the joys of that one freaking point too! ugh!

jenuno01MemberFreak out. Pray a lot… second doubt myself in every way possible… cram…and get like 3 hours of nightmare-filled sleep. Wake up…chug on a liter of black coffee…study for another 3 hours or so and vuala! You're ready to take your exam =]

TebowwwwwMemberGet a good night's sleep. For me this means going to bed at least 10 hours before I need to wake up because I usually don't sleep well before. Reading over notes never hurts but by 9pm the night before I don't think you'll get much out of MC questions that late in the game.
REG (7/7/11) 75
FAR (7/28/11) 76
BEC (8/27/11) 81
AUD (10/15/11, 1/20/12) 63, 91DONE!!!

PeanutParticipant@RedRage00, I do the same thing. I just read notes or some of the material the night/day before. I've taken about 8 exams now, I've learned the hard way—I don't do any MCQ the day before the exam. Two days before the exam is when I will do small 20 MCQ per topic, but the actual day before exam, I just read the material. I don't do any MCQ the day before an exam because, if I get even 1 wrong, I start to second guess and freak myself out!
@rmm91909, good luck to you tomorrow! You've got this, go in there with confidence!!
AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58January 30, 2012 at 11:02 pm #619336
rmm91909ParticipantThanks peanut! Yea I agree I am doing testlets of 20 and am thinking ahhhhh how did I get those wrong and freaking myself out. I am going to try to go in confident! I feel a little weak on certain topics but there are so many I am not sure how I would ever feel good on everything!

jomarieParticipantI usually take it easy the night before. I take a hot bath or shower, then get a good night's sleep. When I wake up in the am I usually do a few 20 MCQs mini test, reviews notes, then off to the exam.

HustlinHustlinMemberI have only taken one and not gotten my score back so this is just my recent experience, I took mainly progress tests the night and day before and wrote down the ones I got wrong. Reviewed them and took more…..then I read and rewrote Jeff's Ninja Notes where I was weak, and rewrote some Becker concepts. I actually showed up an hour early for my test because I didn't want to be in total panic mode and lose my mind if I got lost or something happened. But I took that hour to review the Govt and NFP notes which I was SO thankful I did.
B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
R 65 - 48 - 45
F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

PwC_CPAMemberHi All,
I am taking FAR tomorrow at 1pm too, and it is my first one:-)
I read somewhere that the day/night before the exam you need to let your brain rest, so that information just settles inside. That's pretty much what I do. I just reviewed all the chapters of Becker, stopped at 4pm (the day before the exam) and have doing nothing.
I tried this tactic for many exams (GMAT and school finals) and it worked well so far. However, everybody is different. Some people like to study up to the last minute. I have tried that too, and it was a disaster. I went into the exam and I could not remember simple concepts that I practiced so many times!! It is fascinating how our brain works sometimes!
Good luck to everyone!

Oh who am I kidding, I am married! 😀
I usually study off and on the day before the exam and just finish up with a little bit of mnemonic making and formula writing.
