New SIM format

I read somewhere that the new format of the exam will not allow the test taker to work on the SIMs simultaneously and toggle back and forth between them. That is going to kill a lot of people. Going back and forth between them gives you time to think about the hard ones and then come back to them. If you have to submit them all individually, well….that’s not really fair. Being able to scan through them and allocate time to each one accordingly and work on individual parts of them is the only way to do well on the SIM section. I hope this was just a rumor.

Yup! In the new format there will be 5 testlets per exam, so the TBS will be divided into 3 testlets with 2-3 per testlet. It will probably make time management more difficult too because people might end up spending too much time on certain TBS testlets and not leave enough time for the remaining ones. Having all the TBS in one testlet was definitely better.

As if I couldn't hate this fricking thing any worse than I already do….well, I'm glad I know now that the rumor was true. I'd love to throw ice-cold water on a freezing cold day, on the committee members at the AICPA who came up with the new format for this exam. They did a webcast not long ago, which I watched a few minutes of, and they seemed like a sadistic little bunch of CPAs. “DO UNTO OTHERS….”
