Hello all, I am new to this forum.

I am a fairly newly minted EA (passed in late 2009) and I recently left the IT field after 15 years to take a job in Finance again. I have a small tax and bookkeeping business (hence the EA) on the side but it is part time. Since I am again back in Finance full-time, I decided to retake the CPA exam. I took the exam back in 1994 and passed Audit and LPR but ultimately lost interest and credit.

So after resting for a while after completing the EA exam and starting a new job, I decided last week to take Audit and BEC in late February. I scheduled Audit for 2/21 and BEC on 2/27. I originally scheduled them for the same day but decided to take a week between each of them to reduce stress a little bit.

I ordered the CPAExcel review course and it should be here tomorrow.

I believe I can pass Audit again with a little review and my experience in IT and with my EA license should help me with BEC. Then it’s on to FAR and REG. I took the all computerized EA exam which is essentially the same format as the new CPA exam so I should have a leg up there as well—typing is 1,000 times preferrable to writing essays. I just wish that the CPA exam was like the EA exam and you received your grades immediately.

Since your exams are so far away you could probably reschedule them. If I were you, I would study for one at a time. Maybe AUD in mid-late January and keep BEC at the end of February? It's must easier to focus on one (even if you have less time) than to do two simultaneously. Just my opinion, but in either case good luck!

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)

    See Pee A,

You actually had a great idea and one which I hadn't considered. I took the EA exam in just this same manner and passed each test the first time.

I rescheduled Audit to mid-January after my month-end activities at work are completed. That will give me from now until mid-January to study and then I can compartmentalize that knowledge and focus on BEC. I have BEC scheduled for the end of February which gives me 6 weeks to study for it as well.

Hopefully this will help me. I'm excited and I think that co-mingling the two exams would have been too much…might as well take advantage of the fact that I can take one part at a time. Previously, I took all four until I passed the first two together and then could take the others separately. What a pain….thinking of those failing grades in the mail is nauseating.
