Nervous for FAR exam

I have been studying for roughly 6 weeks using Becker online lectures. I have also purchased the Ninja 10 point combo. (Thanks Jeff). My problem is that I have been getting really frustrated doing the MCQ, because I feel I am not grasping the concept, or reading too much into the question. Percentage of completion, completed contract, and installment sales were killing me last night. Does anyone have any tips on studying for these types of questions. I have a feeling that they will be one of my SIM questions. I am taking the test on 8/16 and this weekend I plan on hammering out a practice exam. I am also gonna focus a lot on IFRS, governmental, and NFP over the next few days because I am hearing that this is heavily tested. Anybody have any tips on how to improve at the MCQ? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. This is my 2nd test.

@trnolan So…I was in the same boat as you a little over a month ago and I will tell you that I made real good use of Becker's progress tests. I would create 30 question testlets for myself (typically with questions from all chapters) and do about 6 testlets per day. If you struggle with the revenue recognition stuff, I would say work on that stuff until you get it. Make sure you spend a lot of time on Governmental and NFP, because a lot of MCQ are those. The worst part of FAR will be the SIMs and I can't even tell you how to prepare for those. Just try and leave as much time as you can for them and answer what you can as well. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks @future. So you would do six 30 question testlets for all 10 parts per day? That sounds like a plan, I am going to do that this weekend, as well as the Wiley test bank. I think I will try them all open book on Saturday, and closed book on Sunday.

Great! Just make sure you time yourself reasonably. I would give myself 45 minutes for the testlets.

@OP I felt the same way with the Becker material, there was some stuff that I just wanted more detail. It really helped to look back at my Intermediate accounting book from college for completed contact/%completion, much more detail on the J/E. I think the trick to some of those computations is to find a uniform way to setup the problem each time, keep hammering the MCQ, even if its ones you've already done, just to build the muscle memory of how to setup the math quickly. If you get one on test day, you will find your hand will start writing out the table out of instinct.
