Hey Folks, I am using Yaeger CPA review-FAR is my 1st exam and here is my study pattern,

    1) I go over the video lectures

2)Then i read on my own to understand the concepts well

3)Then i solve minimum MCQs that Yaeger tells to solve at the back of the book.

When i go to next chapter i forget the previous one, i need to read the concept again and then i could solve the question.

Also should i solve wiley test bank for respective chapter immediately after finish each module or should i keep it and solve it at the end (Right now i am at the chapter 13E ), I am confused…Some how i am not able to remember concepts of the previous chapters.Even though the video lecture is for 1 hour , for me it takes two hour to go through(since i pause in between and rewind several times). After when i read on my own, i take almost approx 3-4 hours to understand each module.Am i taking more time???

Need suggestions to improve my study pattern

In my experience from school and working on the CPA, reading or just watching lectures is never good enough to get the ideas into my memory. What always works for me is writing it out, then rewriting it, and maybe a third or fourth time as well. If you watch the videos and take notes (not just highlighting) you will be sure that you are listening and processing the info. Same goes for reading, write it out and break down the textbook into bullets. Notecards are good too, like redox says. It's another opportunity to rewrite. Some people prefer typed over handwritten notes, but sometimes it's too easy to space out when you're typing. Depends on what works for you though.

Then when you hit the MCQs, you can really reinforce what you've done by writing out answers to questions you got wrong and understand why you got them wrong.

Btw, the time it's taking you to review the videos/reading is probably fine. I know I spend at least that much time reading and taking notes on each chapter in Wiley. Whatever amount of time it takes to make sure you really know it.

There's my two cents anyway, good luck!

    REG - 85
    AUD - 99
    FAR - 89 - w/ NINJA Audio and Blitz
    BEC - 91

Using Wiley - books and test bank - 6 months - all 4 first time
