How well do you guys think CPAexcel prepares you for FAR and REG? I know some people recommend supplementing it with other materials–would NINJA notes and Wiley be enough?

Some background…I’m planning to take FAR at the end of January and REG at the end of February before my NTS expires. I passed AUD and BEC in the last testing window. So far I’ve only used CPAexcel and what I learned in my MAccy program. I currently work at an accounting firm doing accounting services for clients like AP, AR, basic FAR stuff, but I’m new and not completely knowledgeable yet.

I’ve started studying FAR and am ~40% of the way through the CPAexcel material. I plan to finish the initial studying by the end of December and then review weak areas in the first half of January. Then I will start studying REG mid-January while I review FAR, and then study REG-only during February. What do you think?

    A - October 2012 - 79
    B - November 2012 - 86
    F - February 2013 - 82
    R - February 2013 - 73 (didn't have time to finish studying)

I just used CPA Excel for FAR. The last time I took any part of the CPA exam was 1996. I studied for

FAR for 150 hours using CPA Excel. I did all of the lectures, all MCQ and all simulations over about 10 weeks. Took the exam in November and passed with an 86. There was not a single question on the exam that was not very familiar from the study materials. I would have done much better except for my poor study skills. CPA Excel worked well for me.

I supplemented CPAExcel with additional MC questions. Other than that CPAExcel worked well for me.
