Okay so I just finished reading the first half of F5 (Leases), and I understood nothing. I have half of F5 to go, and THEN do the HW which will take a whole day. Then I have F6-F10.

I am not even doing SIM’s, just reading and doing the MCQ’s.. I have 15 days until my exam. I don’t know what to do.. I have passed BEC, REG, and AUD.

I start work a few days after I am supposed to take FAR at a Big 4 firm.. I will not have too much time to study.. I dont know what to do.. I am really feeling very exhausted and honestly feel like calling it quits with FAR.. Its simply TOO much information, and I only have 15 days left…….

Please give me some good feedback on some suggestions..

I am thinking about rescheduling it. But it would be for mid-novemeber. I would want to be able to do a few hours of questions a day, and then on the weekend do alot more.. and then do all the wiley a few times as well.. But see the thing is I am worried I will forget everything if I take another 2 months part time to study.. You are right, I am frustrated and its really affecting me in a really really bad way.. I was never like this for any of the exams.. Hell intermediate was my favorite in college.. I dont know why I am feeling like this. I just feel VERY stressed out due to lack of time. I feel very rushed.

I haven't even touched simulations yet. Im leaving those for the last few days and im only going to glance over the answers and understand them.. Im going to try to be done by this weekend hopefully.. that will leave me 10-12 days to do everything 2-3 times.. IF POSSIBLE. Otherwise.. I am really considering rescheduling.

I just get frustrated.. Its really not that hard to be honest.. I am just stressing myself out.. a little more then I should be.

Ill have 11 days to do a review… and kick into gear. The last 2 days I usually dont do much review, just do both exams, go over them & flash cards.. So thats about 9 days of non stop MCQ's.. Ill probably end up doing them all 2 more times HOPEFULLY! God I hope we pass.. This exam has taken over my life this summer. Good luck everyone! Thanks for the feedback.. really appreciate it!

Hey man, as everyone else have said….look at the bright side you are almost done!

I just started studying for the CPA exams (FAR) first and it is truly a beast. I actually Aced all of my Accounting classes and still don't know any of this shit.

I think the best thing to do is what you do when you pull an all-nighter before a mid-term and don't know squat: Get a basic understanding of all the major topics and do as many practice questions as possible.

    Good Luck!

    Honest advice?

Snap the hell out of it. 11 days is PLENTY of time. Seriously dude. Based on your previous tests you aren't a shitty test taker or plain stupid. You had a setback early on in your FAR game… But time to move on, tackle this last test and get that license. If you allow something to feel this overwhelming it will be.

I am on F7 today, will be done tonight no matter what. I will try to do all Beckers questions in 3 days total after I finish F10. Then I will hit the Wiley Test Bank questions for 3 days straight.. (As many questions as possible).. Then spend one day looking over the SIM answers & JE's in the book. Then maybe 2-3 more days doing more practice exams & reviewing the flashcards 2 days before.. Then the day before the exam Final Exam 1 & 2 (I've always done them 1-2 days before the exam)..

    FAR IS GOING DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you guys.. good luck !:)

    @futuremdcpa-

this relates to a post about bonds you put up 3 days ago…. i have realized that I start confusing myself on the difference between all of it if i have done TOO many problems (ie the int exp vs. the payable vs. the carry value vs. the amort vs. the actual cash coming in or going out, if the question is talking about the issuer of the bond or the investor side, etc, blah blah blah). Yes, sounds absolutely nuts, but it happens to me. Been working on bonds all day, and I saw my scores go down after trying too many mc. Take a step back, go on a walk, hit another topic for 1 hour, then come back to bonds. That's my strategy when I start mixing up the little bits and pieces. Keep me posted on how you do on FAR!

    B 71, 74, 84*
    A 74, 72, 69, 74, 87*
    R 80* ... lost credit... 82* done forever!!!
    F 68, 68, 74, 78*

Yep, I've gotten five 74's! Wah!

@Jacquelyn – Yeah I think sometimes, for me at least, I do tooo many MCQ's for one section that I start getting frustrated, and need to go walk around somewhere, or watch TV or talk to friends for 15-20 minutes. When I come back I feel much better. It is alot of information.. But I realized the more I practice the BETTER I get, and the more I understand.

I think I will be fine.. hopefully I just need to pound out F10 by Sunday hopefully, and Ill have 11 days of 3000+ MCQ's & MANY SIM'S (not gonna waste time doing everything 100%, but just to see if I understand the concept etc.) I learn much better with MCQ's, and doing them over and over again.

I am planning to do ALL Beckers MCQ's 1 more time, and then Wileys 1600, and then Beckers 1400 all over again.. That is over 3000 MCQ's. Hopefully I'll be able to do all that.. hahah I am also gonna spend the day before going over flashcards (which I always do for every exam and think they help), and then the day before Im going to take both Final Exams & Review them and call it a night.. and pray hard! Just keep plugging away at it..

Im sure you will do fine! Good luck on FAR 🙂

Well… isnt it funny how things work out.. You plan to do so much.. and then time goes by too fast.. Im redoing all of the Becker MCQ's right now & reading the chapters before I do the questions..

This is what I have scored so far…

    F1: 87%

    F2: 72%

    F3: 65-73% (not done yet)

    I should be scoring 80%+ ..

Not to mention I have skipped all simulations, and have not had a chance to look at them…The only comfortable thing thats keeping me sane is how easy NFP/Govt was for me.. So 8/9 will be done in 1 day.

There are simply too many small things to remember.. goodwill, partial goodwill, nci %, NCI partial.. Im reading 3 right now, and It looks like i've never even read it before.. Im spending too much time trying to understand these topics.. I just feel so discouraged right now.. My exam is next Friday, and I don't think any amount of time will help me remember anything or pass this effing monster piece of $hit exam. I feel so stupid… I should of done FAR first. I mean really.. this is my review week, and I don't know anything… Ill probably be done with 3 today. This gives me 5 days to cover 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, and 10. And no, if I do reschedule it will have to be end of November… and I will be working full time, and I won't get that much more done..

LOVELY. I think I'd rather get stabbed then do this exam anymore.

    Future –

I felt the same way if not worse about FAR…. I put it off till last because I knew I would struggle…. I would go throught the lectures and start homework and would do about 10 problems before I would just give up because not only was I getting them wrong, I didnt even know why or how to do them. I went through 1-5 like this… about 2 weeks out, I jumped to governmental and not for profit because I heard that was heavily tested. Not for profit isnt bad, but Government is a little tricky with all the funds. Anywho, I was scheduled to take in at end of February and knew for sure I would fail but figured I would just give it a shot. When I got into test, the first testlet was not terrible, like I knew that it would have been doable if I understood what all I had studied. The second sucked and the third sucked and to me the sims were horrible… I dont like to admit it but I was 95% sure I failed and wanted to cry but I passed. I have always heard that this one is the most heavily curved and I honestly believe that…. If you are making 80s-70s, youre doing way better than me… I was making 50s, seriously… I would shy away from the problems because I was doing so bad…. just think through the problems and have faith

    REG - 88
    AUD - 96
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 79

@Mbh6333 – Thank you for your reply. I honestly feel mentally drained.. Nothing, not even a break will help my mind relax, and put me at ease until I pass this exam. See I put it last because I thought it was my favorite subject in college, so it wouldn't be too bad.. WRONG. I did govt/nfp and I pretty much understand almost 95% if not 100% of the MCQ's.. I liked that section because its the only 2 chapters that made sense! How did you review? I am re-doing everything for a second time, and im scoring worse then when i did the MCQ's the first time!!!!!!!

I agree that those scores aren't bad. I use Kaplan (clearly I'm a hipster) so I don't know how their questions compare to Becker but over the 1,000+ MCQ I did for FAR my average was like 70.2% and I got an 88. I sort of think I might have gotten insanely lucky by receiving easy sims, but still, those scores shouldn't be driving you crazy in my opinion.

    FAR: 8/29/12 88
    AUD: 10/1/12 79
    BEC: 10/23/12 90
    REG: 11/21/12

I am just here to commiserate. FAR is truly horrible. I just rewrote all of the FAR ninja notes over the past few days, I'm going to rewatch all the lectures on topics that I'm shaky on this weekend, and then do nonstop MCQs all next week. The ninja notes give me some level of confidence, but becker immediately shatters it (I too am getting bad scores when reattempting the homework). I think we have to remember that the becker questions are almost all highly difficult. The actual test will be difficult too, but there will be some problems that will be way more conceptual and easy. I keep telling myself that, anyway.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

Just wanted to commiserate and let you know that I'm in a similar boat here, although I don't have as much of the time constraint you have.

I'm about halfway done studying for FAR, its my last exam, passed all others this year on the first try, and I am BURNT OUT. When I started with AUD I was studying 40 hours a week (I've just worked part time all year, thank god) and it wasn't THAT bad. BEC and REG I got progressively more burnt out and hit maybe 20 study hours a week. Now with FAR… it's awful. I'm procrastinating CONSTANTLY. Right now I haven't studied in 3 days and I feel guilty about it. But what am I doing? Surfing A71 of course!

I CANNOT find the discipline to just sit down and bang out like 4 study hours a day for the next month. I haven't scheduled my exam yet but am aiming for beginning of November. I keep telling myself “if you keep slacking you ARE going to fail, FAR is HARD, and then you're going to have to study and pay MORE”. But I cannot focus on that damn book any more.

I need a kick in the ass. Someone give me a kick in the ass.

With your scores I doubt you will fail FAR Brooke.

I think its ok to take a break studying when you're tired/sick of it. I was there a few times and I always felt better and more productive after taking a bit of time off. I studied more for FAR than the rest because it was my first test, but I actually don't think its harder than REG or AUD. (although my scores don't reflect that so much). At least FAR makes sense and doesn't have much to just memorize. But I do think it makes it harder to study for when you're burnt out.

@ Future- guess what time it is? Time to stop freaking out 🙂 You got it dude… Just don't make yourself insane first.
