So, I failed FAR for the 4th time with a 67, I feel like I am hitting my head against the wall now, I use CPA Excel go through each lecture, skim book, take notes then I do all EQ’s twice right away. Then When I get through the book and lectures I do all the questions again for the 3rd time, the ones I get wrong I do them again so some of them the 4th time. Should I try something else? I am lost and have no clue.

Get a better test bank, do more questions in the test bank. Either get the Ninja test bank or Wiley Test bank, do atleast 1000 questions before you sit for the exam. I think closer to 1,500 would be better. The more you practice the better. Also as you are doing questions, make your own notes about every area. Study your notes often, then do more questions, edit your notes (make easier to understand and more accurate), then do more questions, edit your notes, and so on. You can pass.

50+ MCQs per day and read the NINJA notes 5+ times. NINJA Audio is also good if you have a long commute or can listen at work.

Everybody I talk to always says get another program, I don't believe that is the answer, I spent 1500 dollars on cpa excel and your telling me that it is inadequate for the CPA test, I refused to believe that the answer is more and more programs. The flaw has to be in retaining the info all the programs has the same info just in a different format. I will take into making more notes on the questions into consideration but the answer can't be another program, any thoughts?

Don't change the program just buy another test bank. You are probably

    1) way to familier with the answers in the test bank

    2) the way the answers in the test bank are presented are not sufficient to show you that you don't actually understand the underlying material. You want to make sure that you are NOT getting the RIGHT answer for the WRONG reason.

The test bank is where you do 85% of the learning, a test bank is not expensive. I would just relook at some of your CPA excel lectures and books and also purchase a new test bank. That is how i would approach it.

I would agree with the others here. There is also a website called CPA Review for Free if you want to try some free MCQs. It is entirely possible that you are getting the answers right for the wrong reason. The other thing I will say is that if you are not doing at least 2 weeks of review before the test, I would try that as well.

I'll echo everyone else: you need a testbank. Jeff's NINJA MCQs might be the way to go on this one.

I'm not a huge fan of CPA Review for Free, but it will at least expose you to new questions.

I agree with Java. You don't need a new program, but I would also recommend more MCQs.

I used CPAExcel and I really liked it. The first time I took FAR, I had gone through all the lectures, took notes, rewrote the notes, and started on some intensive MCQ sessions. I failed with a 74. I was able to pinpoint the problem to be that I hadn't done nearly enough MCQs. For some reason I didn't take the questions within the study program serious enough.

For my re-take, I purchased Jeff's 10-point combo. I didn't use the flashcards (I'm just not a flashcard person, although they're really helpful for a lot of people), but I LOVED the NINJA notes and audio. They definitely both helped me.

In addition to the 10-point combo, I bought the Wiley testbank. This was right before Wiley bought CPAExcel, so the questions were entirely different at the time (not sure if they still are or not). As much as I liked CPAExcel, I thought the Wiley TB questions prepared me better.

So long reply to basically say I agree that you may just need new questions. And take a look at the 10-point combo, or the different pieces of it. It might help you.
