Shooting for August 12th test date, and I’ve been lingering on F1 (Becker) for a LONG time…I’ve finally buckled down and almost finished with this section. I’ve read that I should do at least 2 chapters per week..I’m a bit of a slow learner, though. How many hours per day do you guys suggest?

I uploaded the Ninja study schedule thing, but I don’t really get it.

The lectures are 3 hours long, but it usually took me 4 hours to get through each one. Then I reread each chapter after the lecture, which took another hour. Did MCQ's, which can take anywhere from 1-8 hours (let's average it out at 4.5). That comes to 8.5 per chapter, excluding review of older chapters. Add in another hour for that and it takes 9.5 hours per chapter. At two chapters per week, that's 19 hours.

That comes out to less than three hours per day if you're studying every day of the week, but it also assumes those 19 hours are QUALITY hours. I know I studied way more than that, hours wise, because I wasn't completely focused all the time I was studying. You probably won't be able to either.

I would allocate at least 4 hours a day, if you can.

    F - 86
    R - 90
    A - 97
    B - 91

For me personally, after coming home from work the most I can see myself studying is about 4 hours before my studying efficiency goes down. On my days off, probably about 8 hours, but I have to to study for 8 hours on my day off.

As for the ninja study schedule, I believe you are suppose to watch all the lectures for every section while taking intense notes before attempting any MCQs, correct me if I am wrong here.

I am in the same boat as you right now. I am about 75% done with the lectures only for F1, but I find myself just rewriting the content in the Becker book. It helps, but there has to be a more effective way for note taking.

What's your approach on note taking?

I've been doing my own flashcards on topics that I find important — which I plan to review before I go to sleep or if I'm on the go somewhere. I do have Becker's flashcards, but writing it down my way helps me retain the information.

I think I'm just going to type up important concepts in Becker that are recurring in the MCQs, especially the ones I get wrong and try to shorten it (if possible) on my own notes. But I'm not sure if this is the right approach either..

I recently started FAR since I am going to be taking it in August and I use Becker, the way i go about studying is:

I divide the chapter based on the lecture pages for that chapter. Then I read the book before watching the lecture and highlight and write in my own words and make it as simple and “dumb” sounding as possible. At the same time I'm doing this I am also reading the flash cards and writing stuff on the back to remember.

After I do this I watch the lecture and if there is a topic i didn't understand very well or he tells me to write something I didn't write then I do it.

I do this for the entire chapter. When I am done I do the homework MCQ (THE WORST PART EVERRRRR) and when i get a question wrong i write a bullet as to why it's the right answer. When i finish that I shuffle the flash cards and re-read them. Then I tackle the simulations

I am almost done with F3 and I plan to do a progress test of F1-F3 to kind of know where am standing!

My process takes a bit longer but I want to prepare for a hell-sent exam..!

    Good luck!
