My Game Plan – Advice?

    Hey all,

I just finished with AUD and BEC this past window and am looking forward to beating this beast in 2012! I wanted to share my game plan with you all to get your advice/opinions.

I am thinking of taking FAR next. I am going to take the month of December off because of the holidays – plus, I am a little burnt out from three straight months of studying/testing/waiting for my scores. So, I want to start studying for FAR in the beginning of January in order to take it at the end of February.

Hopefully, I will pass FAR. At that point, I would like to take REG the next window.

What do you all think of this plan? Is two months enough to study for FAR? Also, what is your opinion about whether I should go for FAR or REG next? Is there any advantages to take one before the other?

As always, I appreciate your input and wish you all the best of luck in your studies!

It sounds like you have a pretty solid plan and I do think you should go with FAR first because there is some overlap with AUD/BEC that'll help. 2 months is definitely enough to study. I studied approximately 6 weeks for each section and that was just right to rack up the points to pass – but that really depends on your study style.

The only part I'm not in full agreement on is taking the entire month of Dec. off. Unless you think you won't have a problem getting back into study mode, I'd say, start studying now. I never gave myself more than 1 week's break and although I was pretty fried by the time I finished REG, it was worth it completely.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

Congrats on passing AUD and BEC now! I think your plan sounds pretty good and I agree with KasiaS about taking FAR next. If I remember correctly, I felt it related more to AUD than REG did.

Personally, I, wouldn't let the next few weeks go by without doing any studying. It can be hard to get back into the swing of things. It might be good to just begin studying with no pressure, maybe doing a little bit a day or something…There's nothing wrong with taking a few days off, but I found that if a lot of time elapsed with zero studying, it was hard to get back into the studying mode.

But only you can know what methods and study habits work for you.

Just my two cents. Good luck!

Thank you for your input. I definitely see what you're saying about taking December off. I am ordering my FAR materials now so maybe I will take time to review during this month and then start studying more intensely in January. As tempting as it is to take this time off, I do think you guys are right about getting out of “study mode.” This is why I wrote this thread! Thank you!
