    What’s up everybody?

I just got home from finishing the FAR exam and I’m a little tired, I’m a little wired…

I’m going to list of my experience instead of writing a paragraph.

    – Time wise I was alright. 45 minutes each teslet and 1:45 for the TBS worked well for me.

    – 2nd testlet rocked my sh1t. The problems were long and wordy to set up.

    – The TBS’s were everything I expected. Roger did a great way to prepare us for those and I was unsure of only one (which wasn’t covered in my review course)

    – 4 hours sucks. I got thirsty.

    Ask me anything

Did you find you didn't need 45 for the first testlet? I'm anticipating 2nd and 3rd taking longer. Based on recommendations from other posters, I'm planning

    Testlet 1 – 0:40

    Testlet 2 – 0:45

    Testlet 3 – 0:45

break – 0:05 – at my desk, unless I just have to go, because I can't handle the having to stand there while they check people in

    Sims – 1:45

I'm so tired, I don't even know if the math is right. I wonder if anyone's ever done a little experiment by answering a question about an area they're really good in in the first testlet WRONG, so that you get more of them later.

@katie – your math is right. Your idea for an experiment sounds like a bad idea.

LOL @Katie, I have actually not thought of that… now that I think about it, FAR had a lot of repeated questions (not necessarily worded the same, just same concept, different facts) so you might be able to get away with it? – I just think it's waay too risky..but if your try it, let us know if it works! When's your FAR test?

Nah, I'm too chicken to be the pioneer. I'm NOT ready, but my NTS expires soon, so I have to sit for it. If I felt totally prepared I might give it a shot, but I'm sure I won't have any points to play with. Even if it seemed to “work”, one time isn't evidence and I hope to goodness I never have to crack open this FAR book again, ever.

Hah, I thought I'm the only funny person that even think about putting the wrong answer on my first testlet.

My experince with REG recently was horrible. On my first attempt in Nov'11, I got sooo many entity's basis questions; I still got strong in MCQ overall, but weak in the entity parts. This time I know I nailed the basis inside-out; and I know exactly I answered the tricky basis questions in my first testlet… so, no more basis questions in my 2nd and 3rd. How awkward is that?

Before, I got strong in my b-law part, so I just skimmed through this time. My first REG experience felt like 90% tax, 10% b-law. This time, 65% tax, 35% b-law.

They gave me some law questions that I know for sure are not covered by Becker.

I am freaking out now… these exams are killing me.

Keep at it, Working-Hard. You got this.

    @Katie.

I didn't need as much time for the 1st teslet as the others. It took me around 35-40 minutes to complete. But I kept with my schedule for the rest of the time. The 2nd testlet took the longest to complete.

@CashMoney10…I am working on my FAR. I am still learning the concepts one by one. I am doing ok with the practice tests from Becker. I will be on Chapter 7 tonight. What I am really concerned is how much knowledge I have retained from last month's study. I think I understand most concepts and MCQs so far, but I am very weak on Journal Entries, and it seems J/E are the easist ones for my to forget…..

@CPA-Convert “What I am really concerned is how much knowledge I have retained from last month's study.”

I had this concern as well. I was doing a new lecture everyday so it was difficult to remember topics even a week back. Do you take notes with your lecture? Those help out a ton. I started writing down key notes, journal entries and problems on flash cards. That way I could quickly review them every few days. As long as I memorized the process of the problem and the journal entries I felt it would make it easier when it came time for the final review before the exam.
