i am trying to sit here and study and do these mcq’s for aud, but my brain is in every place other than focusing on this material.

i have tried going for a drive, doing pushups and pullups in-between sections, but nothing is working.

does anybody have any suggestions on how to focus on this stuff?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

What worked for me was 40 minutes every hour with a 20 minute break. A 1 hour break between 2 hours of studying.

AUD from my point of view is a lot of memorizing. I used Becker, used the Flash Cards for quick review and I reviewed ratios and the reports format from time to time.

Also you could try “conscious breathing”. It’s a breathing technique so you can calm down and take your attention away from other stuff. In other words, organize a clutter mind.

You can also try writing down the things that come to your mind while studying. Let’s say worries, things that need to be done, ect.

    Hope this helps.

Ed is right. Take breaks. I don't know how some people say they did 300 questions a day. I would go insane. I try to do some every day, but if for some reason I don't, the break (or the guilt) inspires me. Some days will just be more productive than others.

    Also, lots of coffee helps.

I don't know how people do 100s of questions per day either, I can only stomach so many in a day. For me, I need to study in bursts to stay focused. During small breaks, I take a few deep breaths (inhaling into the lower abdomen, not the chest), have a small drink or a snack, and do some stretches. Sometimes a coffee and a shower helps as well.

I also used armoatherapy to help me keep my focus and concentration up. It didn't make me the unstoppable studying king or anything unrealistic, but it put me in a positive mood which helped me stay focused.

    Helpful study tip:

I photocopied the main reports out of the Becker book (like the standard unqualified, a modified unqualified, a going concern, scope limit, compilation, review, etc). Then I cut them out and glued them on colored paper (I've heard color helps you remember better)… I wrote the helpful hints in the margins like RAPMEAM RAPMEAM, Double whammy, U LIAR, etc. I tried to read through all these reports in the evening and it helped boost my studies the next day, because everything felt fresh/familiar.

Unless you are cramming and have no time for break, then i suggest taking breaks, not because you think you should but because u want to and do what u want. heck when i study i stop and play a video game for 20-60 minutes then hit the books again after.

I hate AUD. For my 3rd time, I just did MCQs over and over again. The first month I was going slow, maybe 30 to 40 per day…..but for my 2nd round I was doing 75 – 100 per day, and for my 3rd time around it was more fun because I knew and learned the MCQs and was doing about 250 per day……

I did over 3,000 MCQ ( from Wiley book, Wiley CD and Gleim Test Prep). However, when I took the exam, there were few MCQs in the actual exam. It took me 4 1/2 hours to the last minute to complete the exam. I felt the AUD exam on the 3rd time around was the toughest…. with “new” questions. For the SIMS, I think I did well because Wiley covered all the subjects in the exam well.

I just hope I pass AUD!

Sometimes when I'm burned on MCQ's, just can't read anymore, I sit back and just watch the videos.

Great strategy,,, if you have the videos.
